the next session of the General As
sembly of the State of Georgia to
repeal the high license whiskey law
of Coffee county, as passed by the
General Assembly, October 2nd, 1879,
amended August 18th, 1881, and further
amended September 4th, 1883—and to
create in lieu thereof a dispensary for
the town of Willacoochee, Georgia.

At Chambers. Brunswick, Ga., Sept, 26,
1899.—1 t appearing to the Court from pe
titions presented, signed by the citizens
of the county of Coffee, and from informa
tion obtained from other sources, that, on
account of the dilapidated condition of
the old building now temporarly used as a
court house in said county of Coffee, and
also for the further reason that there is
now, on account of the long drouth, no
adequate quantity of water at or near
Douglas, Ga.,to reasonably supply persons
ami stock that would necessarily be re
quired to assemble in attendance upon
a session of the Superior court of said
county, it is impracticable to hold the ap
proaching October term, 1899 of the Super-
ior court of said county of Coffee on the
(lay fixed by law for the bolding of the
1 same, and that said causes for adjourning
court as hereinafter directed are unavoid
adle.
It is therefore considered, ordered and
adjudged by the court, that the regular
■ Octoner term, 1899, of the Superior court
of said county of Coffee be, and the same
1 hereby is adjourned from the second Mon
i day in October, 1899, to be held on the
I third Monday in December, 1899.
It is further ordered, that the grand and

school system for the city of Douglas, in

raising of revenues to maintain said sctiool

sctiool funds as may be the pro rata share
of all children attending and eligible to
enter said schools, to provide for building
for said schools and for a sohool board

session of the General Assembly of Geor
gia. which will convene on the fourth
Monday in October. 1899. a bill will be
introduced creating anew charter for tlie
city of Douglas, of whicli the following is
the caption:
An act to create anew charter for the
city of Douglas' in the county of Coffee,
and to consolidate and declare the rights
of said corporation, to authorize and em
power tlie mayor and aldermen of said
city to purchase or build, establish and
maintain and operate a system of water
works, electric lights and sewerage for
the city of Douglas; to hold an election on
a day specified as now required by law to
determine the question of creating a debt
against said city by the issuance of bonds,
to provide for the assessment and collec
tion of an annual tax on the property in
said citv for the purpose of paying the
principal and interest on said bonds, to
confer additional power upon the Mayor
and Aldermen of said city of Douglas and
for other purposes.
