Council Chambers, Sept. 8 1900.
City council met in regular session,
present, W. W. McDonald mayor. J.
K. Davis, C. E. Baker, H. Sapp and
A. VO. Haddock aldermen, absent D.
W. Gaskin.
Minutes of the last meeting read
and adopted. The resolution prohibit
ing the riding of bicycles and tandems
on certain side walks was passed and
made a law.
Ordered that the uiay.r be author
ized to make contract with J. P. Brown
for shade trees to be ordered by the
citizens, whereby the city shall guar
antee payment of subscriptions upori
condition that property owners ac
company the order for trees with a
written request to the city to purchase
trees and guarantee payment.
Ordered that the city clerk retain or
ders granted Isham Williams and ap
ply same to the payment of the said
Williams’ special taxes, and pay over
any balance to said Williams.
The following bills were approved
and ordered paid:

adopted.
Ordered that balance now due on
road leading from the City to Gaskin
Spring and the building of the Pavil
lion be paid.
Ordered that a tax rate of seventy
five cents on the one hundred dollars
be levied as advalorem taxes on all
property within the city limits.
Ordered that all parties whose tax
have been raised, have ten clays notice
of such raise, and that a meeting be
called to allow such parties to show
cause at said meeting why said tax re
turns should not be raised.
Ordered that the following billls be
paid:

G. L. Brack be filed without publica
tion.
Ordered that proper notice be given
by publication and otherwise for the
extension of the city limits, and for
the purpose of amending the city char
ter.
Ordered that the mayor and treasur
er be authorized to borrow funds to
satisfy present indebtedness, and for
necessary expenses.
Ordered that the report of the city
marshal be received and filed.
Ordered .that the city clerk present
a bill to the county commissioners for
having clock wound since April 15th
1900. Adjourned.
