Eastman will be made very angry
to-day on opening their mails, by

tine: while the lassie and laddie
will be overjoyed by the reception
of one of much sentiment.

Rip Van Wincle by Fitzpatrick
Bros, was witnessed at Lietch’s
Hall on Thursday night by a very
good crowd. The company play¬
ed for the benefit of tlie Volun¬
teers, and the boys received their
first money to go toward pay
mg for their uniforms, The
play is a very good one, and al¬
though three or four of the troupe
were suffering from injuries sus¬
tained in a wreck before reaching
Eastman, they did well and the
crowd went away satisfied. They
left for HawkinsviPe where they
played on Friday night, and in
Cochran on Saturday night.
Disolution.
The firm of Mum ford it Sauls is
this day dissolved by mutual con¬
sent. Mr. A. L. Mumforcl having
purchased the entire interest of
Mr. F. E. Sauls. This 4th day of
February 1890.

Death <>t‘ Mrs. .J. D. Anthony.
News reached us on Saturday
morning last, of the sad death of
Mrs. Josephine Anthony, wife of
the Rev. J. I). Anthony, of Spring
Hill, Georgia. Mrs- Anthony had
been a sufferer for many years
from a complication of diseases,
and died on friday from nervous
prostration. She had a host of
friends, around Spring Hill, and
many in Eastman, who were made
sad when the news came. Her re¬
mains were laid to rest in the
Spring Hill cemetery on Sunday
afternoon.

Mr. A. J. Graham, of McRae,
was in this city a day or two this
week, trying to secure a lot of
hands to cut crossties for Tharin
A Graham, contractors, at Ilazle
hurst. These two enterprising gerf
tlemen have a contract to cut a
large number of ties for C. Bee
wick A Co., who will construct a
tram road 39 miles long. He wants

Che Eastman Volunteers will
Hold a Fair During’ the First
Week of Court.
The Eastman Volunteers will
hold a Fair, commencing on Mon
day the 21th hist. By an enthusi¬
astic and unanimous vote this was
agreed upon at the meeting held
on Wednesday night last.
The entire building in which
their armory, (I.ietch’s Hall) is lo¬
cated, has been secured for the
purpose, and the fa>v will be held
there.
The following committee from
the company has been appointed

tion with the foot. He was sent to
Eastman in care of Dr. Herrman
for treatment, who put his foot and
severed toe in warm entiseptic xvu
ter for a few minutes. Afterwards
carefully adjusting and stitching
the parts together, dressing the
foot, placed him in charge of a
i nurse.
The Doctor removed the band
ages on the 10th dax\ and to his
light found the toe had perfectly
united, afterwards dressing it
from time to time, until last Sun

Rhine, Ga., Feb. 2d.—Our little
village is still thriving, the Sam
road lias just been finished, a

We are sorry to record the death
of Rev. Alford Heave's son, at
Milord. He was hurried yesterday

The library room is situated in
the male convalescent building,
and the shelving is admirably ar¬
ranged. When hooks without
covers are received, they are im¬
mediately hound hv the librarian,
who is kept busy with his duties
there. Mr. Robert Trippe was
