About 6 o’clock on Thursday evening. Jmice Barnard Hill died upon the Bench at Knoxville. County scat of Crawford County, from heart disease, JMtlgc ITill was of Northern birth, hot many years in (ieorgia. At the time of his death was 74 years of age. He was one of the ablest lawyers in the Chattahoochee circuit, and was appointed Judge Superior Court of that Circuit by Cov. Smith in 1873. I,ct Well fnimsli Alone. Atlanta binds herself to build a fine Capitol upon a beautiful site (which alone is worth a third of the territory of Mill cdgovillc). if it is located there. Vote for the Capital to remain where it is. Simply because Milledgeville has bad the Capital is no reason why it should go back. Why. if it was removed it would not be long be fore it would be brought back to At lanta. Three moves arc as bad as a fire, so let it remain. For Senator. It will bo observed, by reference to nom ination notices at the head of this column, that It. E. Sadler is a candidate for Sena tor. subject to primary election. It is a mere matter of personal preference ns to the candidates, both for Senator and Kep resentative, as all of them are capable and staunch Democrats. Politics are out side of the question altogether. This is a source of gratification to the people of Hart County. The friends of each candi date should turn out in full force. The Soldiers. It is hardly necessary to say anything about the Soldier's Reunion last week, as everybody nearly was present. Through a general misunderstanding the people were not prepared as they should have been for so great an occasion, and consequently the rations on hand m quantity were true to the original. But, if there wasn't much eating done, there was a very large sized lot of drinking. The old war horses were formed in “a line of fight,’' and marched and counter marched to the martial strains. To tell the truth, they had forgotten their tactics and resembled an ** awkward squad " more than anything else. P. M. Crow acted as adjutant and acquitted himself with credit. The whole regiment was under the eflicient command of Maj. Skelton and Marsha) Dooley. We understand that a raid will be made into lowa soon, for the purpose of cutting off the Burlington Hawkeys's communications and tearing up its irony. Speeches were made by A. G. McCurry. Esq., Capt. Craft, J. T. W. Vernon and Maj. Skelton. Everything passed off agreeably, and we opine that the next Reunion will be car ried out in a superior manner. Of the Anderson band we have already spoken. Every one appreciated their mu sic, and some of our best whistlers have already mastered their pieces, and favor us on every corner, on every occasion and every time with their rendition of the “ Three Jolly Brothers,” &c. Long may the soldier's live to reunc, and when conscripted by Death, may they meet in the Grand Reunion in the New Jerusalem, where Hawkeycs can never approach. Toombs says Hayes is a better man than Tilden. and that he never voted for the latter * To tin? Vntrm of Hurt County. . Remember that next Saturday is the day ft# the primary election to nominate can didates for the Legislature. Kach and every man in our County is interested in this election, and by their united action — by every man going to the polls and re cording bis preference for the man of bis choice, he will insure the success and pro mote the welfare and integrity of his party. By your vote in the Courthouse during court week, there being a large assemblage of the citizens frojji all parts of the County, you showed that you heartily acquiesced ill this plan. If such was The fact, do not now drop into lethargy by staying away from tJm polls. * A great many of the good citizens of the County nrc in favor of the old way of nom ination, hut this plan was proposed and unanimously adopted, and now we hope you will carry it out with that same unan imity in order to make it successful. In organization there is strength. Let us therefore stick to our organization, and shoulder to shoulder rally to the polls on the day of primary election end show by our votes that the County of Hart is to be run in the interest of all the people, and show to the remainder of the State that we are determined to choose our best men to lill her offices. Notions, Hosiery and Gloves, Gents' Furnishing Goods, Hats. Roots and Shoes. Cloaks and Shawls. Trunks, etc., which for volume, variety, beauty, desirability and cheapness, will be found to surpass, by far, any stock ever placed before the public in Atlanta at any time previous. Having been for nearly a month past in attendance upon New York “ forced Kales," he has purchased an immense stock of goods, for the greater part of which he has paid nothing like their value. Consequently he can sell “bargains.” THIS ADVERTISEMENT Is no extravagant exaggeration expended upon a mere handful of goods, purchased, perhaps, at high figures under the pressure of a doubtful credit. ON THE CONTRARY, This magnificent stock of goods was purchased FOR THE CASH, and in its purchase the subscriber did not confine himself to the regular channels of trade, but struck out boldly ujkiii the market, relying upon his judgment (the result of thirty years’ experience) and plucked splendid windfalls from under the ham mer of the auctioneer, the sheriff, and from the hands of the assignee. 58 JOHN KEELY, Corner Whitehall and Hunter Streets.
