Wo found the town agog with excite ment over the election, the railroad and the brass band. Wc were informed by those in high places that the Air Line is a fixed/"act, and work is to be resumed im mediately. It is anticipated that the wel come sound of the whistle will he heard in Klbcrton by next August. Hartwell will then have to move out to the railroad, or better still, build a branch to tap it at New Town. While in Sander's celebrated sa loon listening to old Jim's yarns anil watching little Jim’s skillful manipulation of the fleecy we were invited down I t the coal mine underneath the ground, where a ray of Sl’N-shine never before was found, to examine the intricate meshes of a willow basket, and found it old enough to have grey hairs. He contemplates still further improvements to meet the necessities of an increase of bus iness that will be the ultimate result of the railroad. His estimable wife, with pardon able pride, gave us a glimpse of her large and magnificent collection of poultry, after which we did justice to an excellent din ner, and were not surprised to sec a large number of'boAVdcrs. \\ e met our old friend'.Sclnnidt, who said lie “ vas all riglul,” and requested us to give bis regards to the people of Hartwell.
