Altnve we give the olttoial returns of this Senatorial District, resulting in the election of Col. Fred. 11. I lodges as Senator. Hodges' majority over Rev. T. Crymes is 1,104. ns the following consolidated report will show : llodgeh—Hart, 930; Habersham, 61)0 ; Franklin, 551—Total, 2,171. Crymes—Hart, 112: Habersham, 358; Franklin, 5117—Total, 1057. Hodges majority, 1,104. Crymes only received 40 majority in his own County (Franklin), which proves conclusively Unit the Rotation System is looked u|>on with great favor by Un people, and that the good and true citi zens of Habersham and Franklin are determined to act fairly and squarely with Hart; and we can assure them that they will find old Hart all right when she is put to the test. We think this forever settles the Rotation ques tion, as the people as a majority have signed and sealed it. and we feel safe in the prediction that no candidate for Senatorial honors in this District will hereafter rare to ignore it. We congratulate Senator Hodges, not only on personal grounds, but upon the fact that his success is the vindica tion and establishment of a fair princi ple—the just distribution of represen tation. In the County election, MeCurrv's majority over the Independent candi date for Representative was 40(1, and demonstrates that the people of Hart are determined to stand by their regu lar nominees whenever they are honor ably chosen. The Primary Election system will doubtless usher in n better era of good will and produce less of strife and partisan feelings than have heretofore characterized our elections. True Republicanism and Democracy are one and the same, and we trust that at all times hereafter the people's voice may be accepted as final on questions of nominations or Primary Flections, and that all will rally, without regard to race or political creed, under the same banner, ns was to a great extent done in the election just closed. Atlanta, Ratification and the Home stead of 1H77 received decided majori ties in this Senatorial District. Wr* would like to find some fault with the Hartwell Nr\, because it is so “ strong ag?n' ” Milletlgeville, hut it is so neat cud newsy we can't do it —Old Capita/. liy all that's powerful, we almost Wish we hadn’t elected Atlanta by giv ing it onr tremendous influence.
