THE PHAETOM OF THE OI'Ll 08,
THF. rr.E!V OF THE HEART.
I Tntttn fur The Hartwell Sun
'Tvu midnight, in it* guarded shrine.
The xml was dreaming of the hour
The heart's soft lute, with melting chime.
Had waked ita all-inspiring power
How the vision of the night,
in dimple lienuty'a dross, appear* .
The robe ahe wore was *|sitl*** white—
The crown, her golden hair.
The phantom now awaked the anul,
For converge ahort and sweet,
And ak an entrance to the heart
The dotiree of love and light.
The aoul rebela, and oaks to know
From whence thia lovely form had come.
“ And now for what I—the reaaon why
You aak an entrance to my home I"
Tho lovely qneen made aweet reply,
The aoul attention gave:
*• 1 am the Goddeaa of the heart,
To you and me a alave."
The aoul the viaion then did kiae,
And gave the heart away ;
The Goddeaa now eternal bliaa,
The heart haa endleaa day.
Thia midnight viaion now rouat have
Ita mysteries all explained :
'Twaa Love had seized the heart and aoul
And made thia phantom plain.
This wae the Goddeaa then cf Love,
Whose all-inspiring eight
Moves the soul—melts the heart
And makes love's labors light
Thia lovely phantom, then, we say.
Must rule the immortal part;
Whene'er she leaves to roam again
She leaves a broken heart.
How sweet the dream when love's the theme—
Jho dreamer's loved and lores •
How bitter then to wake again
And find hia dream a farco.

HOLLOWAY'S OINTMENT.
Bad Legs. Bad Breasts, Sores and Ulcers.
All description of sores are remedial by the proper
and diligent use of this inestimable preparation. To
attempt to cunt had legs by plastering the edges of
the wound together U a folly; for should the skin
unite, a boggy diseased condition remains under
neath to break out with tenfold fury in a few days.
The only rational and successful treatment, as indi
cated by nature, is to reduce the inflammation in and
about the wound and to soothe the neighboring parts
by rubbing in plenty of tho Ointment, as salt is forc
ed into meat. This Will cause the malignant humors
to be drained off from the hard, swollen, and discol
ored parts round about the wound, sore, or ulcer,
and when these humors are removed, the wounds
themselves w ill soon heal; warm broad and water
poult ires applied over the affected parts, after tho
Ointment has been well rubbed in, will soothe and
soften the same and greatly assist the cure. There
is a description of ulcer, sore and swelling, which

such poisonous sores it never fails to restore the sys
tem to a healthy state if the Pills betaken according
to the printed instructions.
Diphtheria, Ulcerated Sore Throat Scar
let and other Fevers.
Any of tho above diseases may bo cured by well
rubbing tho Ointment throe times a iluy into the
chest, throat, and ms-k of tho patient; it will soon
penetrate and give immediate relief. Medicine taken
by the month must operate upon the wlv'le system
ere its influence can lie felt in any local part, whereas
the Ointment will do its work at once. Whoever
tries tho unguent in the above manner for tlm dis
eases naineil, or any similar disorders affecting tho
chest and throat, will Hud themselves relieved as by
a charm. All sufferers tmni these complaints should
envelop the throat at bedtime in a large bread and
water poultice, after the Ointment lias been well
rubbed in ; it will greatly assist the cure of the
throat and cheat. To allay the fever and lessen the
inflammation, eight or ten Pills should lie taken
night and morning. The Ointment will produce per
spiration, the grand essential in all eases of fevers,
sore throats, or where there might he an oppression
of the chest, either from asthma or other causes.
Piles, Fistulas, Strictures.
The shove class of complaints will ho removed hv
nightly fomenting the parts with warm water, and
then by most effectually rubbing in tho Ointment.
Person's suffering front these direful complaints
should lose not a moment In arresting their progress.
It should he understood that it is not sufficient mere
ly to smear the Ointment on the affected parts, hut
it must lie w ell rubbed in for a considerable time tw o
or three times n day. that it may lie taken into the
system, w hence it w ill remove any hidden sore or
wound as etl'eetualiv as though palpable to the eye.
There again bread and water poultices, after tho rub
bing in of the Ointment, will do great service. This
is the onlv sure treatment for females, rases of can

Sores and Ulcers.
Blotches, aa also swelling®, can, with certainty, be
radically cured if tin* Ointment be used freely, ami
the Pills taken night and nidrning, as recommended
in the printed instructions. When treated in any
other way they only dry up in one plaee to break out
in another; whereas thia Ointment will remove the
humor from tho system, and leave the patient a vig
orous and healthy being. It will require time with
the use of the £illa to insure a lasting cure.
Dropsical Swellings, Paralysis and Stiff
Joints.
Although the above complaints diflfer widely in
their origin and nature, yet they nil require local
treatment. Many of the worst eases of such dis
eases will yield in a comparatively short space of
time when this Ointment is diligently rubbed into
the parts affected, even after every other means have
failed. In all serious maladies tlie Pills should be
taken according to tlie printed directions accom
