A Strong Circus Man.
The death is announced, in Paris, at
♦the ripe age of !M, of M. Dejean, the
proprietor of the circus in the Campus
Klvsecs and Boulevards. His ca
i reer was a remarkable one. He started
in life ns a butcher’s apprentice, aud his
good looks drew all the cooks in the
neighborhood to the shop of his master,
who, on retiring left him the business.
Having amassed a comfortable fortune
lie started the circus, kept it going for
. half a century, and realized very large
profits. He was remarkable for his her
culean strength, and for his attachment
to the Napoleon family, which the late
Kuiperor requited by making M. De
jean an officer of the Legion of Honor.
Of his strength stories are told that bor
der on the marvelous, in which fiction
mingU'S very largely with fact. Thus it
ia stated that soon after starting the cir
, etts a tiger escaped from a menagerie lie
was exhibiting and made straight for
him. Dejean quickly opened his arms
and then closed them. When he re
opened them the tiger fell dead at his
feet, smothered in his embrace.
Dr. Lovick Pierce preached eleven
thousand sermons during his life.

Oil City Derrick: Mr. 0. Hell, is

calls out: “O, Hell, pass the contribu

'New Haven Register: “ Well, John

say your prayers and get into bed.”

his marrow bones bugged the cold oil

'Chautauqua Farmer: It is not good
Vick that makes good crops, but it is
good work. Some farmers always have
good crops, good stock, and get good
prices. It is because whatever they put
(their hands to they do well. They
(have clean fields, good fences and do
good plowing, cultivating and seeding.
They farm with brains as well as bauds.
If other farmers would imitate their ex
ample, they would have better crops.
“does not depend so much upon
good luck as itdoesupon good work.
They were meandering, arm in arm,
up the street, and a short distance
ahead of them walked a young lady
very handsomely attired. The sun was
afiout setting, and its light was throw
ing a Leiutiful criinsen glow all over
the earth. He said, in a rather subdu
ed tone of voice: “How beautiful!
perfectly grand 1” etc. “ Well, I don’t
know,” was the response from the fair
one by his side, “I don’t admire her
style, and the dress is a mighty poor
fit'.” He weakened, and the sunset in
terested him no more.

If there is one thing more than another for whirl)
these Mils hit so famous. It la their purifying prop
ortion, espeeiallv their pow cr of cleansing the fdcssl
fi on, all inipuritioa, ami removing dan genius mid
•impended secretion*. Universally adopted as the
one grand remedy for female eomplalnls, they never
fail, never weaken the system, and always bring
about what is required.
Sick Headaches and Want of Appetite.
Those feelings which so sadden us. most frequent
ly arise from annoyances or trouble, from obstructed
perspiration, or flora eating and drinking what
Is unlit for us, thus disordering the liver and
stomach. These organs must be regulated if you
w ish to be well. The Mils, if taken according to t lie
printed instructions, will quickly restore a healthy
action to both liver and stomach, whence follow, as a
natural consenurnee, a good appetite and a clear
head. In the East and West Indies scarcely any
other medicine is ever used for these disorders.
How to be Strong.
Never let the bowels Is) either confined or unduly
acted upon. It may appear singular that Holloway’s
I’ills should be iTcommended for a run upon the
Isiwels, many persons supposing that they would in
crease relaxation. This is a great mistake, however:
for these Mils will immediately correct the liver and
stop overy kind of bowel isnunlaint. In warm cli
mates thousands of lives have been saved by the use
of Ibis medicine, which iu all oases gives tone mid
vigor to the whole organic system, however deranged
—health and strength following as a matter of course.
The appot ite, tisi, is wonderfully increased h\ the
use of these Mils, combined In the use of solid in
preference to tluid diet. Animal food is better than
broths and stew s. By removing acrid, fermentod, or
other impure humors from the liver, stomach, or
blood, the cause of dysentry, diarrluva. and other
how el complaints Is expelled. The result is, that the
disturbance is srrested, ami the action of the bowels
becomes regulsr. Nothing w ill stop the rvhixstion of
the bow els so quickly as this tine correcting medi
cine.
Disorders of the Kidneys.
In nil diseases affecting these organs, w hether they
soci-otc tisi much or too little water.- or whether tlie.x
be afflicted with atone or gravel, or with aches and
pains eettleil in the loins over 'he regions of the kid
raws, these Pills should he taken according to the
printed directions, and The Ointment should be well
rubbed into the small of the back at bedtime. This
treat incut w ill give almost Immediate relief w hen all
moans have failed.
For Stomachs out of Order.
No medicine will so effectually improve the tone of
the stomach as these Pills -. they removu all acidity,
oeiasioued either liy Intemperance or improper diet
They reach the liver and reduce it to a healthy ac
tilin'; they are wonderfully efficacious in cases of
spasm —in fact they never fail iu curing all disorders
ot the Uver and stomach.

PAID, and if our GOOD PROMPT-PAV
ING customers do not help us, to whom
must wc look? Some men would let us
talk ourselves to death, or die iu the poor
house rather than use any exertion to pay

are coming up with cotton and money 10
HELP US OUT. Let others do likewise.
Some need but to be reminded. Those
