ANNIVERSARY
Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Massey
celebrated their eighteenth wed
ding anniversary last Sunday,
the 13th, with an elegant course
dinner. The parlors and hall
were beautifully decorated with
cut flowers and pot plants. And
big bright fires lent their cheery
glow to the happy occasion.
In the dining room the color
scheme of yellow and green was
carried out in the decorations,
the centrepiece for the table was
a crystal vase with yellow chry
santhemums resting on an elab
orate hand made piece of em
broidery. Quite a number of
gue ts enjoyed the charming
hospitalitv of this couple, and
they all wish for them many re
turns of this happy occasion.

THRILLING EXPERIENCE
AT NIGHT IN THE JPNfcU
To hear the thunderous roar of
man-eating kings of the fares?,
to feel their hot breath wafted
thru the barred windows of a
tiny cabin in the jungles if cer
tainly thrilling. Mons. DocceC.
the famous animal trainer with
the John H. Sparks, was torn
and raised in a cabin in the jem
gles of equatorial Africa, Hi#
father was an agent of theiUf-al
Zoological Society of France, aiwt
spent many years securing spai
mens for the society. Heftce
from childhood Mons. Deum
was accustomed to hear nigbdy
the roars of monster lions„ (lie
hideous tiger’s growls, thesttad
ing leopards and hyenas, which
often engaged in deadly com&at*.
around tne cabin, often hurling;
their huge weights against it*
frail walls and scampering wer
its roof. As he grew up in these
surroundings he became a fjemr
less hunter, meeting the adilA
denizen of the forest face to
and engaging in fierce stnagtfes
with the infuriated beasts, I£e
afterwards became a trainer,
and his absolute mastery aawr
the brute creation is not equaled
by any living man. A lar®e
steel enclosure will be erected ia
, the centre of the big tent, into
which the ferocious animals will
be turned loose. Mons. Douecc
will then enter this enclosure,
unarmed and put them thru 2 r<»-
markable series of performance?
that will vividly illustrate their
tremendous strength andagiltty.
It is a thrilling, hair raising
sight, and one never to be for
gotten. The John H. Sp&r&s
Shows, is enti r ely composed of
marvelous, expensive and ere
fully selected features, wixt-A
makes it so vastly superior
all other similar exhibitions.
No one should miss this great,
show at Hartwell, Thursday, No
vember 24.
