Export Figures Show
Origin of Shipments
To serVe shippers in the interior,
particularly in the Middle Western
states, the Department of Commerce Is
compiling statistics of exports by states
of original shipments. Tiie depart
ment’s statistical reports have pre
viously shown only the exterior ports
from which export for
foreign couptries.
Under the new arrangement, all
goods shipped on through bills of lad
ing, for which the declarations are pre
pared by the shipper in the interior,
will be credited to the Interior state of
shipment. Goods consigned from in
terior places to seaboard ports, to be
there consolidated or reconsigned for
export, will also be credited to the*
state of original shipment if an ex
port declaration prepared by the in
terior shipper, showing the place of
original shipment, is filed at the cus
tom house.
Merchandise forwarded from the in
terior to the seaboard for export by
commission merchants, forwarding, or
other export agents, and the export
declaration prepared by them will in
most cases be shown as • xported from
the port of final shipment, ano will so
appear in the statistical reports.

Hot Dog
The Brenau Glee Club won and
took away the hearts of those for
tunates who enjoyed the splendid per
formance given by them on last Fri
day evening. The program was a lit
tle “high class” but the audience cer
tainly enjoyed their program. Course
there are some who do not care for
this kind of music, but there are al
ways those who object to perfor
mances like this, and who do not ap
preciate real music. All in all, the
packed house enjoyed the program to
the fullest extent.
The scenes were wonderful and fill
ed the audience with much admira
tion. To say that certain parts were
the high lights of the program would
be unjust to these girls, because every
scene carried with it the things that
could fill the crowd with wonder and
amazement.

Little girl (to grandfather):
“Grandpa, why don’t you grow hair on
your head ?”
Grandpa: “Well, why doesn’t
grass grow on a busy street?”
Little girl: “Oh, I see, it can’t
get up through the concrete.”
Six Cylinder Love
“Six Cylinder Love” will be pre
sented here Thursday night, April
3rd. I am sure the women will go be
cause the play has been on Broad
way for two years, and anything that
has been to New York or Paris, the
le.dies are sure to go. I haven’t found
out why the men should go unless it
is because the play is sure to be a
good one, and will be likely to cast
a few jokes, etc., out on the streets of
Hartwell that have been so filled with
water the past few days. That fam
ous combination, Brown and Hailey,
are bringing the above mentioned play
to Hartwell.
Baseball—Batter Up
Before very long fans will be hol
lowing at the umpire and calling
him all kind of names. This means
that the baseball season is now ap
proaching. Hartwell high has start
ed practice and are already showing
signs of real baseball ability. Only
one pitcher is back from last year,
Joe Martin, so one or two pitchers
will have to be developed. Coach Mc-
Gukin can do it now as he has done
in the past, and the prospects are ex
ceedingly goed.

Not Worth the Effort
Bill wanted to slip out of barracks—
unofficially—to see his girl, and he
went to the sentry and stated the case.
‘‘Well,” said the sentry, “I’ll be off
duty when you come back, so you
ought to have the password for to
night. It’s ‘ldiosyncrasy.’ ”
“Idio what?”
“Idiosyncrasy.”
“I'll stay in barracks,” said Mil. —
