BETTER BABIES CLINIC AND SHOW
HERE DURING FAIR NEXT WEEK
“Here’s to the baby, the dear lit
tle elf,
Nobody’s nearly so cute as himself,
Sweeter than honey,
More precious than money,
And isn’t he funny—
This dear little elf.”
When: Thursday, October 16th.
Where: Hart County Fair in the
High school building.
Who: Everybody in Hart county
under six (6) years of age.
How: Babies will be weighed,
measured, and an examination made
by physicians and dentists.
Why: Pre-school age children, the
future citizens of our land, need
your help NOW. Health habits are
formed and character habits are
forever being moulded in these plas
tic years. It is the period jn which
defects often develop and, also, in
•which they are easily controlled or
"remedied. The contagion rate is at
its maximum between the years of
2 and 6, but a healthy mouth, noR,
and throat many times effectively
bar diseases from entering the baby.
Report cards showing the results
of these examinations will be given
each mother. Also leaflets from the
State Board of Health and the Amer
ican Child Health Association per
taining to chiild welfare, will be pre
sented free.
A first prize, $5.00 Savings bank
account, wil be given to the best ,
baby in Hart county.
Blue ribbons will be given each
baby scoring 90 points or more.
A group photograph will be pub
lished in The Hartwell Sun of tne
babies scoring highest points in each i
militia district of Hart county.
This clinic is sponsored by the
Hart County Medical Association,
Child Welfare Committee of the Wo
mans Club, and the Pre-School Age
Committee of the Parent-Teacher
Association.

CARD OF THANKS
Editors The Sun: —Please allow
the entire force at the Hart county
convict camp to express their appre
ciation to the good ladies who pre
pared and presented seven large
cakes of various kinds to us at the
noon hour last Friday, coming just
in time for dinner. We will ever re
member these kind-hearted ladies for
this.
Shortly before noon we noticed
Mr. T. Joe Rucker and Mr. J. A. J.
Teasley talking quietly together and
shortly afterwards Mr. Rucker dis
appeared in his Ford; he returned
pretty soon and the next thing was
to get those seven big cakes out of
the car and hide them, with the
eagle eyes of the guards, Willie
Brown and Eber Bailey, looking on.
It was done, however, and at dinner
time we have rarely ever enjoyed
such a feast.
Many, many thanks from all of
us to the good ladies, who are as
follows: Mrs. T. Joe Rudrer, Mrs.
Will Fleming, Mrs. Jesse Harper, Mrs.
Vandiver Duncan, Mrs. J. A. J.
Teasley, Mrs. J. S. Cobb, Mrs. J. N.
