RESOLUTIONS
The heinous murder of Snow
Skelton, county policeman, brought
intense sorrow to the whole board of
county commissioners. In their meet
i ing last Monday they set apart a
memorial page in their records bear
ing testimony to their high esteem
of his faithful services. The tablet
in the record is as follow:
In the tragic death of L. Snow
Skelton, Policeman, Hart County
loses one of the most patriotic of
ficers in her history.
Such a death is exceedingly de
plorable; when an officer is killed in
the discharge of his duties in the
interest of peace and good order.
As a further expression of our
grief and that the ends of justice may
be speedily meted out to his assassin,
we offer a reward of Two Hundred
and Fifty Dollars for the capture of
the one who is guilty of so foul a
murder and also we have petitioned
the Governor of the state to supple
ment the above reward in such sum
as his judgment, may think the cir
cumstances justify.
We extend to the family and rel
atives of this worthy officer our
deepest sympathy which we hope may
be comforted in some degree by
knowing that the messenger of death
came to their dear one while he was
in the discharge of a public duty.
As an added token of our esteem
and respect for this faithful offficer,
we set apart a page in the minute
book of our records to note the ac
count of his untimely death.
No matter how well you treat the >
world you will never get out of it
alive.
