The friends of Mrs. J. H. Barton
regret to learn that she continues ill,
being unable to attend the Confer
ence this week in Atlanta. She was
a delegate from the Elberton Dis
trict. Rev. Barton left Tuesday
nn rning to attend the session.
Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Brown and Mr.
and Mrs. Eugene Brown and family,

Mr.' and Mrs. Milton C. Oglesby and

Mrs. W. H. Condor spent last week
end with Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Carlton
and family.
Messrs. Jim and Arnold Snow, of
Atlanta, spent Sunday here with
their sister, Mrs. W. G. Hodges, Dr.
aid Mrs. W. I. Hailey and family and

Some idea of the class of pictures
being shown here is gleaned from a
news item in last Sunday’s Georgian
American in which it was stated that
the International newsreel, which is
shown in Hartwell at the Star, was
acknowledged the best in the world
recently when they photographed the
trans-Atlantic flight of the ZR-3.
This picture has already been shown
here, and Manager Yarbrough states
that the news reels are proving very
interesting to the Star patrons.
Hartwell will- welcome Mr. and
Mrs. W. H. Clinkscales, who will
move here December Ist from Starr,
S. C., occupying the J. Rod Skelton
home on Forest avenue, now oc
cupied by Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Jones.
Mrs. Clinkscales is remembered as
Miss Ruby Wilcox before her mar
riage.

was the guest several days last week

guests the past week of Mrs. Stock
ing’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. L.
Ayers and family.
Mr. J. B. Magill was among the
business visitors to Atlanta last week
end.
Mrs. Emma Strickland, of Carlton,
is spending sometime here with Miss
Ellen Meredith.
Mrs. L. L. McMullan spent the past
week in Atlanta, attending the Con
vention of State Federation of Wo
men’s Clubs. While there she was
the guest of Gov. and Mrs. Clifford
Walker at their new home 205 the
Prado.
Mrs. John- T. Gray and family, of
Townville, S. C., were the guests

Mrs. Emily Wanamaker, who has
been visiting her daughter, Mrs. R.

ing her daughter, Mrs. J. W. Fairey,
and family.
Mr. Sam .Wallace and daughter
Helen, have both been confined to
their room for the past week with
severe colds.
Miss Billie Neese spent last week
the guest of the family of Mr. Sam
Neese in Anderson, S. C.
Miss Mary Matheson spent the past
week-end in Newnan, the guest of
Miss Durden. Saturday she with a
party from Newnan attended the
Georgia-Auburn game in Columbus.

Rev. Win. M. Winn, one of the
oldest ministers in Georgia Metho
dism, died at the home of his daugh
ter, Miss Ada Sasser, in Decatur, on
, the 13th, instant. He was the be
loved pastor of the Hartwell Metho
dist church in 1889, and is well re
membered by all our older citizens.
Surviving him are one daughter, two
sons and thirteen grandchildren.
A popular Hartwell young man,
Mr. Willie T. Reynolds, was married
on Nov. sth, to Miss Annie Hickey,
a charming young lady of Atlanta.
After the ceremony, the wedding
party enjoyed an elegant wedding
dinner at the Elks’ Club, and are now
at home to their friends in a cozy
housekeeping bungalow on the North
Side.

The hunting season is on, but
County Game Warden T. H. Risner
says you must have a license to hunt
legally. Better see him and avoid
trouble.
Mr. J. C. Kidd spent first of the
week in Atlanta on business.
Mr. Sam visited relatives
in Gainesville last week-end.
Woman’s Club Will Meet Monday.
The Hartwell Woman’s Cluk will
meet Monday afternoon at 3 o’clock
at the home of Mrs. Walter L.
Hodges. Mrs. J. L. Teasley and Mrs.
McCade Alford joint hostess.
At this time a most cordial wel
come will be given the new members.
A most interesting program has
been prepared. Mrs. B. C. Teasley,
chairman of this department.

Hodges, who represented the club.
Our good friend, Mr. L. M. Cun
nigham, of Cokesbury, brought in a
sack of Nancy Hart apples last Fri
day. They were of the Yates type
in hardiness and make a splendid
apple for the winter. The Nancy
Hart Variety was put out by the late
Mi. S. W. Peek, one of the State’s
original nurserymen, and a man who
did much in his lifetime to put more
fruit and pecan trees around the
homes of Hartwell and Hart county.
City Clerk J. L. Teasley wishes to
have the citizens re’gister for the
election December 3rd. The regis
tration books close November 28th.
Those desiring to vote must register
at Mr. Teasley’s office, as the book
will not be carried around.
