Alton B. Holland spent several
days here last week-end with his
mother, Mrs. W. Y. Holland, and
family.
Enoch B. Benson, who travels in
the middle West for the L. G. Bal
four Co., of Attleboro, Mass., arrived
home last week to spend the summer
months with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. E. B. Benson, and family.
Mr. E. P. Vickery was among the
visitors last week to Mountain City.
Mrs. Howell Cone and children, of
Statesboro, have been the guests for
several days of Mrs. A. C. Skelton
and Mrs. Thos. L. Matheson and fam
ilies.
Prof. Hoyt S. Bryan, of the Easley
(S. C.) faculty, is spending part of
the vacation period with his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Bryan.
Mrs. Sid Johnson and little daugh
ter, Mary, have been spending sever
al days in Atlanta with’ Mrs. John
son’s sisters, Mrs. Clovis Thrasher
and Mrs. Ralph L>odd, and families.
We see in the Monroe papers that
City School Supt. J. I. Allman and
County Supt. W. B. Morris have been
talking in that city to the Kiwanians
and other progressive citizens of both
town and county about what Hart
is doing along consolidated rural
school lines. Hart county has taken
the lead in the State in rural school
consolidation and is getting deserved
recognition.
Mrs. W. D. Stephensen, of Bowers
ville, was among the visiters to Hart
well Thursday.
Miss Fay Oglesby, student at State
Normal, Athens, arrived Thursday to
spend the vacation months at home
with her mother, Mrs. Nettie Oglesby,
and family.
Miss Olivia Bolton, of the Hart
well school faculty, left last, week
end for Biloxi, Miss., to spend the
summer with homefolks.

in celebration of the birthdays of the
mother, Mrs. R. F. Craft, and Mrs.
Griffin. The party was composed of
the immediate members of the fam
ily, sons and daughters of Mrs.

by J. D. Turner, teacher, of Cokes
bury, had its annual picnic and fish
fry at Cool Springs Tuesday, May
26. During the afternoon the dis
cussion of Sunday school was taken
up by members of the class which

use his foot again after injuries re
ceived one day recently when oper
ating a binder.

week from several weeks’ visit to
relatives in Leary, to her home here
with her daughter, Mrs. J. T. Hays.
Mrs. Foster C. Brown and little
son, Edward, are visiting Mrs.

Misses Fannie Sue Rucker and Bes
sie Warren left Saturday for Cullow
hee State Normal School, Cullowhee,
N. C.
Miss Mary Lee Allman was chosen
marshal for the Senior Class at Wes
leyan. This is considered one of the
highest honors that can be conferred
on a Junior. She will leave for Car
rollton immediately after the gradu
ating exercises to be the guest at a
house party given by Miss Mary Tan
ner, later she will join her mother,
Mrs. J. I. Allman, in Atlanta, and go
to New York to be the'guests of Mr.
and Mrs. E. B. Moss, at their apart
ment in the Concourse Plaza. .
