Condor spent the week end here with Mrs. J. M. Carlton and family. Roy Teasley and Robert Lee Ayers have entered the citizens military training camp at Fort Bragg, N.' Mr. Joe Saul, of Atlanta, was here last week-end for the opening of the sale at his Hartwell store. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Herring and baby, of Atlanta, have been visiting Mr. Herring’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Herring, and family, and other relatives in town and county. The Service Class of the Hartwell Methodist church held their regular monthly meeting at the home of Mrs. Alfred Teasley on Monday of this week, Mrs. J. H. Vandiver and Mrs. Emory Satterfield being joint hos tesses. Following the business ses sion a delightful social hour was en joyed. Misses Essie and Vena Brown, of Bio, were guests of Mrs. Hettie Rich ardson Friday. Col. Charles Adams, of Davisboro, was a business visitor to Hartwell last Friday. Mr. Fred Wilson, of Adairsville, where he has charge of the Georgia Railway & Power Co. office, has been spending several days here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John S. Wil son, and family. Miss Naomi Herndon, who grad uated from Brenau College in June, is doing observation and post-gradu ate w-ork at the University of Geor gia Summer School. It will be of interest to Miss Naomi's friends to learn that she has accepted the posi tion of Instructor in the department of English in the Winder High school, ■which place was tendered some time ago. Mrs. J. T. Wilcox and little son are visiting relatives in Atlanta. Mr and Mrs. E. L. Adams, Jr., and of Elberton, were guests last Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. John Xee Adams. SUN RAYS Mrs. Susie Thornton,, of Atlanta, has joined her daughter, Mrs. L. L. Morris, and family, at Mountain City, for the remainder of the summer. Mrs. L. H. Maxwell, of Asheville, N. C., and Mr. F. B. Bowman, of vl’ami, Fla., spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Cobb and family. Elmer G. Alford has accepted a position in Orlando, Fla. Mrs. W. I. Hailey, Mrs. Isham B. Hailey and Mrs. W. G. Hodges spent last Thursday in Asheville, N. C. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Land are visit ing relatives in Americus. Tom Burns, of Atlanta, is spending several days here with his parents, Mr and Mrs. R. H. Burns, and fam ily. Mr. J. M. Maxwell, of Townville, S. C., was among the business visit ors here Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Garnet Wilder and children, of Cornelia, former citizens of Hartwell, were here Monday as guests of Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Estes and family. Miss Helen Brown, who has been visiting relatives in Atlanta the past week, will return this week. Mrs. L. W. Adams and children, Muriel and Harold, are expected this week to visit relatives and friends in the city and county. Mr. Tommy Pierce and Mac Brown, Jr., left last w?ek for Mi ami, Fla. Miss Budge Jones, daughter of Mrs. Jessie Jones, of Miami, Fla., is visiting friends and relatives in the town and county. Mr. and Mrs. Mell Tuck, of Tam pa, Fla., en route to Virginia, stopped over in Hartwell last week-end to visit Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Howell and family. Mr. and Mrs. B. V. Meadow, of Royston, are spending several days here with Mr. and Mrs. T. H. John son. Miss Dexter Bryan was the attrac tive guest of Miss Lois Madden the past week. Mrs. R. M. Turner and daughters, of Royston, were among the shoppers here Monday. They were guests of Mrs. J/ P. Jones and family. Mr. and Mrs. Z. P. Barron and family are visiting relatives in New nan this week. Mr. and Mrs. N. A. Howell, of East Point, spent last week-end here with the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Howell. Messrs. P. P. Gurley, Robt, Hea ton, Isham and Inman Whittaker left last week for a visit of several days in south Georgia and Florida. Mr. and Mrs. J. S. McCurley, Mr. and Mrs. Clay M. Evans and little daughter, Genevieve, and Miss Thel ma McCurley spent the week-end with relatives and friends in Atlan ta, returning Monday. Mr. and Mrs. I. J. Phillips, Sr., spent last week-end with Mr. and Mrs. I. J. Phillips, Jr., in Henderson ville, N. C. Mr. Herschel Scoggins, of Atlanta, was a week-end visitor at The Hen rietta Hotel. Miss Mattie Ruth Gurley has re turned from a visit of several weeks with relatives and friends in Roa noke, Rich Creek, Bluefield, I‘rince ton and other points in Virginia and West Virginia. While there she vis ited many places of interest. Miss Clara Madden is attending a house party in Decatur. At Mountain City. Miss Frances Thornton has been visiting in Elberton. —<y— Miss Felma McMullen, of Elber ton, is the attractive guest of Miss Lois Madden. Dr. S. R. Patton killed a weasel in his chicken yard Tuesday night. This was the first one we have ever seen. They are hard to see or kill. The one killed by Dr. Patton was brown with white breast, a rather beautiful animal, being of the squirrel tribe, perhaps, but with a longer tail and body. . _ THE HARTWELL SUN, HARTWELL, GA., JULY 10, 1925 In Hendertonville. An enjoyable social event of the past week was the morning bridge party given by Mrs. Owen Meredith at her lovely home on Benson street, honoring her sisters, Mrs. Roy Ams ler, of Gainesville, a recent bride, and Miss Nelle Poole, whose marriage to Mr. John Hamer, of Spartanburg, S. C., was an event of Tuesday in La vonia. Following a number of games a course of refreshments was served. Mr. B. F. Barnes, of Greenville, S. C., was a visitor to Hartwell this week. Mr. Leon Morris has been confined to his bed for the past week. Miss Mary Matheson has returned from an extended visit to Atlanta. Prof. H. H. Maddox, of Sardis com munity. visited homefolks in Winder last week. Schaefer Skelton and Frank Skel ton visited their mother. Mrs. Snow- Skelton, in Greenville, S. C., last Sunday.
