For a number of years she has teen bossed by her mother. Her nother will not cheerfully relinquish ier authority. Her mother will at iaaes resent the fact of you. You mat never, at any time, appear to esent the fact of her mother. You lust praise her mother. "In either case your praise of them invites unpleasant comment. Don’t tempt your wife; just pet her. Don’t criticise any of your wife’s people. If they are worth while, her famil ypride will make her defend them; if they are worthless, her per sonal pride will make her defend them. Don’t argue with her, pet her. At times she will regret not having married a richer and handsomer man and will enjoy a period of suffering in silence. This delicious martyrdom is a privilege of her sex. Don’t ask for an explanation of her doleful countenance; just pet her. When she is most content with her lot and almost completely reconciled THE HARTWELL SUN, HARTWELL, GA., JULY 24, 1925 to you, she will delight in the fact that she has a man of her own to order about, and such times her gen tle tyranny will be rather irritating. It is a passing phrase. Don’t be stubborn; just pet her. At times she will weep without apparent cause; she will be gay when you are glum; she will be bored when you are full of enthusiasm; she will point for a day without offering an explanation and will give you an ecstatic hug with no apparent rea son. You will never understand her. Don’t try. That way lies madness. Just enjoy the fact of her and re joice when she is lovable and be pa tient when she is not.
