the attractive guests last week of
Miss Sara Nan Brown.
Mr. I. J. Phillips, Sr., attended the
Truitt-McConnell meeting in Frank
lin, N. C., last week.
The friends of Mrs. Garland C.
Hayes regret to learn that she left
last Wednesday to enter the Char
lotte Sanitorium, Charlotte, N. C.,
for treatment. Mr. Edwin Miller ac
companied Mrs. Hayes, driving
through the country.

Mrs. W. E. McCurry was hostess
at a delightful party on last Thurs
day afternoon, honoring Miss Mary
Matheson, a beautiful of
the season, and Mrs. J. G. Craft, who
has recently returned from a stay of
several weeks in Daytona, Fla. •
This elegant home was even more
attractive for the aftAmoon's e<ent,
which proved very enjoyable, indeed,
to the twenty-four invited guests.
After a number of games of bridge
refreshments were served.
Assisting Mrs. McCurry were her
attractive daughters, Misses Myra
and Daisy Webb.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. H. Cobb and
two sons, Billy and Preston, of
Americus, spent the past week here
visiting homefolks. Their many
attends and relatives were glad to
see them here again.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cheshire, of
Spartanburg, S. C., were guests Sun
day of their grandmother, Mrs. Mol
lie Linder, and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Bauknight,
Mrs. W. T. Stoddard and Br. John
Bauknight, of Walhalla, S. C., were
visitors to Hartwell Sunday, motor
ing over. This was Mrs. Stoddard’s
first visit back to Hartwell in many
years; her friends were glad to see
her again.
Messrs. H. W. Bingham, J. L. Mas
sey and C. W. Dooley are spending
several days in Florida.

Sheriff a'nd Mrs. Britt Brown. Mrs.
Gianini is the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. T. E. Brown, who moved many
years ago to California.

Sunday here with her brother, Mr.
Crayton Gaines, and family.
MisS Norene Brown, of Atlanta, is
the guest this week of relatives here.
Mr. Clifton Reynolds, of Atlanta,

funeral in Reidville, S. C., Monday

Gaston, who died the day previous at
his home near that city. Mr. Gas

son, Edgar, Jr., of Washington, D.
C., stopped over in Hartwell for a
few hours Tuesday as guests of the
editors, en route to Florida.

ty will regret to know that he con
tinues ill.
A number of our people will re
member Mrs. I. B. Prindle, of
Bridgeport, Conn., who some years
ago visited her granddaughter, Mrs.
Wallace E. White, and family, here.
She died at the home in Bridgeport
last week, and the remains were in
terred at Monticello, Ga., Sunday.
Mrs. Prindle was 87 years of age,
being born in the North. She first
married Mr/N. B. White, Mrs. W. E.
White’s grandfather, of Monticello;
after his death she returned North,
marrying Mr. Prindle. Mr. White
and family, who now reside in At
lanta, went down to Monticello Sun
day afternoon for the funeral.
