Delegates Selected—The
Resolutions.
On last Saturday tho Democrats
of Jones county assembled in mass
meeting in tho court house in Clin
ton for the purposo of selecting a
now Democratic executive commit
tee, «r»d for the purpose of selecting
delegates to tho different conven
tions, and was called to order by
Me. J. W. Siocumb chairman of tho
executive committee, who was made
permanent chairman of tho tho con
vention, and J. C Barron was elect
ed secretary. The new Democratic
executive committee was selected,
nod fixed upon August 3rd for the
nomination of a representative in
tho Legislature. Tho following are
the delegates to the different con.
ventions;

Tho lollowing resolutions were
road and unanimously adopted by
the Democratic party of Jones
County in public meeting assembled.
1st. Resolved that the principles set
forth in the platform of tho St,
Louis Convention on the Tariff ques
lion, as also the pineiplo lor which
all true Democrats are contending
lor under tho Mills Bill now before
Congress and the views of Pros.
Cleveland on theso vital issues as
expressed from time to time moots
with our hearty approval and en«.
dorsement.
2nd. That the ablo wise and con
servative administration of Gov. J.
B. Gordon deserves tho highest com
mendation of all Georgians whether
friend or foe and entitles him (not
but by reason of lus Statesmanship
and superior qualifications of both
head and heart—to a second nornF
nation and election—and tho dele
gales selected are instructed to cast
the vote of Jones county for Jno. B
Gordon for Govenor.

tho state will always bo secure so
long as the same are eorifidod to his
bands—whether as A tt'y Gen’l or
in a higher office to which tho peo
pie should call him—and our dele
gates to tho Gubernatorial Conven
tion are instructed to cast tho vote
of the county for Hon. Clifford An
derson Att’y Gen’l as also for the
other Stato House Officers.
5. That tho rotation system hav
ing heretofore been adopted in our
Senatorial Dist. Wo therefore in
struct our delegates to that conven
tion to cast tho vote of Jones co.,
for Twiggs county's choice of a Sen
ator for 21st Dist.
Resolved that wo direct our Deie
gates to tho Gubernatorial Conven
tion to present the name ot Col. It.
V. Hardeman of this county 7 as
Pros!dental Elector the Cth Dist.,
and support )mn for that position.
