LOCAL.
Miss Kate Morgan has tinislied
teaching a term of five months at
ht*r school near Fortvillo and is
now at home with her parents.
John Johns and family, < f I’ut-
nam. have been visiting relatives
at Gray. John is an industrious
young fellow and one of tke best
farmers in his county.
Dick Dunker can make some
strong red pepper ten and use on
cabbage for worms or sprinkle
with black pepper. China berry
and eatauber leaves are good.
We were glad to see Rev. Mr.
Seale, who 1ms been on the sick
list for some days, out one day
last week. He is still feeble and is
thinking of spending sometime at
Indian springs.
Gene Morgan and Rad Turner
have {issued invitations to a num¬
ber of special friends.to attend a
picnic in front of the residence of
Mr. John Morgan on July 20,
They wish it undersood that it is
not a public affair and none are
expected to attend except those
receiving invitations—either ver¬
bal or written.
Mr. J. R. Wilson and wife have
the deep sympathy of their friends
in the loss of their little girl about
thirteen months old. The death
angel came last Monday night
and wafted the pure spirit of the
little one to a better land where it
will be forever free from this
world of care and sorrow. It
would seem,grief stricken parents
that your home is a favorite visit¬
ing place of the grim monster.
God may send him in accordance
with “whom He lovetli He chas-
• teneth.” Every little star that lie
lifts from your home is placed
around the throne possibly to a' -
tract you there. As there is noth¬
ing more heart breaking than to
give up our little ones so there is
nothing that will draw us heaven¬
ward as the thought that they will
be watching and waiting for us.
Rad Turner came near-
to a serious accident last Tuesday.
lie was riding his Imrse,
Daiidv,” with onlv a halter en
him and he began to run, and Rad
not being aide to stop him, jump¬
ed off, bruising himself up consid-
erably. He has <me arm in a
sling and his nose is slightly dis-j
figured, but not to an extend to j
spoil his beauty. He says that 1
while he feels a little sore extor-
nally his vocal powers are yet in-
tact. Rad lias a way of opening
his mouth and there proceeds
therefrom a molo-.ly that would
put an ordinary “plantation or¬
gan” to shame, and we suspect
that while on the buck of “Jim”
he gave vent to this accomplish¬
ment, and “Jim,” thinking he
heard a rival in the distance,
made for the pasture at a faster
gait than Rad was wont to ride,
hence the accident.
The family of Tub News, with
exception of cow, pigs, and
chickens, visited over in Putnam
hist Friday staying until Sunday,
and attending tlie fifty-ninth an-
nivorsarv of Ranioth clmrch.
There was only one feature about
the trin that w-is not iierfectlv

home. Ail along the road, a d.s-
t/.viicc of sovontoQi) could iio
siien where a beneficent Providence
bad spread his horn of plenty ov¬
er a smiling land. Plums and
blackberries adorned the road on
side. -. M lnle all „ t the .
every crop
was not good, some was excellent,
Especially did we notice some
corn at J. K. Wilson's, Hu- Mon-
ghon place and at Mr. J. Hurt’s,
That growing in the large new
grounds owned by D. Norris-,is
magnificent. The people'of Pit
nam, unlike here have not suffer-
ed for rain. Crops there are
gradens are flourishing and trees
are groaning Vieneatli a load
fruit. We were rejoiced to
every body over there so prosper¬
ous aud happy. We saw corn,
watermelon, potato, and ground
pea patches that were enough to
make us sing. Halleluiah!
