We hear that the political pot
for 1890 is beginning to simmer,
and the big guns are now firing at
Manassas Junction for next year’s

county officer we hear of having a
man in the field against him is

THE NEWS FROM JAMES.
The farmers have about one
half of their cotton out and we
presume sold and the money paid
to the right owners. When the
farmers get all of their cotton
housed they will be trumped to
know what to do—no place in this
vicinity to go a fishing, no game
to hunt. They will have to amuse

Mrs. Ross Silas has been buying
chills but we are glad she is im¬
proving.

Miss Clara Silas spent Sunday
with the home folks. She was ac-
eompnnied by Mr. Williams, of

Miss Belle Smith, a charming
young lady of Rock Hill, In visi¬
ting her sister, Mrs. Boss Silas.
We are always glad to have her
with us.
Miss Hattie Turner is visiting
the Misses Silas. Hersmiles are
more than apt to get. a fellow’s

We were so fortunate as to hear
