J T Wilson, of the Macon fire
department, was up last Saturday
to see his sick father.
Now subscribers continue to
come. Let the good work on; we
have room for others.
Mr. Sid Jones, formerly of
Athens, but more recently of At¬
lanta, has been on a visit to his
parents at this place.
Don’t forget the oyster supper
at Mr. W A Bragg’s next Friday
night. A good time promised
and you help a worthy cause.
Col. F II Johnson has our con¬
gratulations.—A fine boy at his
home is causing his usual pleas¬
ant face to be wreathed with
smiles.
M. Gus Roberts and Miss Mag¬
gie Silas, both of thi 3 county,
were to have been married at the
homo of the bride last night. We
offer congiatulations in advance.
Mr. C. L. Goolsby, one of the
most prosperous farmers of this
section, has rented out his lands
and will spend the spring and
summer months in the Lone Star
State. We hope that he won’t con¬
clude to become a resident of
that state.
State School Commissioner

February 15 as the day on which

of the State are to be elected. Thr
county commissioners are elected
by the county Board of Educatioi
after the applicants have passed
a creditable examination. Tilt

day of service. '
An enterprising citizen remark-
ad tiie other day, as he
handed us the money for another
year’s subscription, “You can al¬
ways count on me a 3 a subscriber
as long as the paper is published.
I would support my county pa¬
per if there was nothing in it but
the head line.” With a county
full of such citizens there would
be no room for croakers.
The county Commissioners were
in session last Tuesday and award¬
ed contracts to repair the court
house. They will have the brick
on each side of the house, up to
the windows, taken out and built
anew. Mr. Self, ’ of Macon, gets

Mr. R II Bonner, of Haddock, was

most agreeably surprised at his
effort. Taking “Christ’s witnes-
ses” as his subject, he attracted
and held the attention of his au-
dience for at least an hour by his
earnestness, his eloquence and his
apt illustrations. One of the most
intelligent members of his church
remarked to us that Mr. Bonner
preached a most excellent sermon,
one that is rarely equaled by or-
dinary preachers, and that a Pre-

excel. Mr. Bonner is a
