Thanksgiving day was appro¬
priately observed by -our people as¬
sembling at the school house and
listening to a sermon, that was in
keeping with the occasion, by Rev
J D Pounds, of Mercer University.
Notwithstanding the disagreeable
weather the house was comforta¬
bly filled, and all were made to
feat that there was much for them
to feel thankful for. The house
was tastefully decorated, the mu¬
sic good and the sermon instruc¬
tive, and taken altogether the oc¬
casion was one of pleasure and
profit.
Mr. R H Builington died at his
home near Haddock Station, of
Typhoid fevor, last Tuesday night,
He was elected Coroner Inst year
and has filled that position faith-

staunch Democrat and always took!
a great interest in our county elec-:

active to his friends. He was!
buried at the family burying
ground yesterday afternoon. He
leaves a wife and seven or eight
children, one brother and three i
sisters to mourn his loss, Peace
to his ashes. i
The school at this place will
close next Friday afternoon, at !
which time the patrons and the
public generally are invited to
witness the closing exercises,
sisting of examinations, declama-
f ions, recitations <fcc. The
commences promptly at 1 o’clock ;
and Mr. Wagner is especially
anxious that the parents of the
children be there at that hour.

THE NEED OF YOUNG MEN.
1‘IIE DUTY OF THE HOUR.
If asked to name Hint, which is
the almost universal need of young
men, the emphatic reply would be,
a business education.
It has now reached the point
that it is practically impossible
for a young man to got a start in
life without it, and nil will doubt¬
less remember the adage that “a
good start i.o half the battle.” A
business education not only gives
this good start but a lad ter end¬
ing, for it Ihrouglily qualifies him
to ascend the ladder ol promot ion
and reach the highest round of
success.
In urging young men to attend
tlie Ga.-Ala. Business College, at
Macon, Gu., we nro governed by
the fact that, it is clearly to their
own individual interest to do so,
for it guarantees to save them
time and money on what, ia con¬

course ever devised.
