The spring term of Gray school
opened Monday .There wero about
40 pupils enrolled the first day
with more to follow later. No
assistant teacher has been elected

yoaterday, attending to routine
business, adjourned and dissolved,
their term of office baving expired.
It was tho annual Meeting day of
tho stockholders, but a quorum
not being present there was no
meeting and the company is
without a board of director# or an
officer of any kind, Until there
isa meeting of the stockholders
and a board elected there can be
no business transacted.
The brick work on tho court
house will be completed this
week. The roof 18 going up and
will soon be ready for the tinners.
The jail is being plastered and
work on the two additions! rooms
will begin soon. Notwithstand-
ing this headway it is yet a prob-
lem as to whether or not April' the
buildings will be ready by
court. There is a large quantity
of work yet to be done.
There was a beautiful wedding
at the home of Mr T S Bush yes-
terday , , afternoon which united the
lives of Mr J \V r Ogden of Alabama
and Miss Helena Stewart, sister
of Mrs Bush. Quite a crowd of
friends and relatives fr< in a dis
tance wore present. A more ex-
tended notice of the marriage will
appear next week.

On New Year’s evening Miss
Marion Bowen entertained a r uin-
her of friends in celebrating her
sixteenth birthday. The parlor
was beautifully decorated with

smilax extended from the corners
to the chandelier. Over the man¬
tle “Sweet Sixteen” was written
in ml and white letters; on the
mantle in holly low f candlesticks
sixteen red and white tapers burn¬
ed The hostess was becomingly
dressed in soft white mull trimmed
with lace. Bouquets of fern com¬
pleted the dainty toilet. 5ho wav
