A Timely Suggestion.
Eeitob News :
With your kind permission 1
would like to occupy a small por-
tion of your space in discussing
the expediency of selecting our
Very best men for the office of
County Commissioners.
As you already know the Coun-
tv Commissioners have the dispo¬
sition of all cash resources of our
w,unt L insisting of over (per-
ha P 8 ) of thirty thousand dollars,
I admit, Mr Editor, t nit, t us
money is not where they can
“swipe” it or appropriate it to
their own private use, but there
are many ways that inexperienced
men can misuse this large amount
of money. Our county is heavily
in debt and we can not illy afford
to leave these important resources
in the hands of untried and unex¬
perienced men. We need men
whose business acumen and expe¬
rience will readily and quickly
point out the dollars worth in
every business transaction in
which our county is involved. We
need men who will have back-
bone enough to “talk out in
meeting,” when ho sees and
that we are not getting a just
fair return for money paid out.
We need men of widely known
liability and honesty, who will
spurn to accept a bribe.
1 want it distinctly
that this little article is a
at no candidate, nor do I
it as a reflection on any
Commissioner.
Fellow voter and . citizen,
know who is honest, reliable
experienced and you also, in
human probability, know
heighth, size, and looks of
graft-taker, when you meet him.
I therefore ask you to put
all petty predjudice and vote
the best men. “Voter.”

morable day, on which our 8a-

The Veterans Meet.
In obedience to the call of their
commander the veterans of the
county met in Clinton last Satur¬
day. While there ar.’ but few of
these old heroes left among g
there was quite a good crowd
present. Scattered here and there
in the audience were many who
were not old enough to march to
the front, but who seek every op¬
portunity to encourage those who
did, by their presence and means,
in helping to perpetuate and
green the glorious deeds of
fathers.
The object of the meeting
to elect officers of the camp
the ensuing year, pay their
nual dues and to elect
