The Cross Roads school house
an 1 lot was sold last first Tuesday
to the highest bidder. Geo. AV.
Tribble was the purchaser, paying
one hundred and one dollars. The
lot contains one acre.
The Carnesville school building
and lot was not sold last Tuesday
on account of ap’ .7 being filed by
some of the heirs to the Tommie
J/e Daniel estate. The property
will probably be sold on the first
Tuesday in October.
We have received a letter from
Mr. J. R. Lecroy, of Lavonia,
stating that he is not in the race
for tax collector, and will not be
in it. We are glad to know that
Mr. Lecroy has made this wise
decision, as we are sure that it
will benefit him as well as the
party.
Jolley-Dixon.
Mr. Freeman Jolley, of this
place, was happily married last
Tuesday night, at the residence of
Rev. J. F. Goode, to Miss Lucy
Dixon, of Charleston, S. C. Only
a few relatives and intimate friends
were present.
Air. Jolley is one of Carnes-
villo’s most popular citizens, and
Miss Dixon is a fair, accomplished
and attractive lady of Charleston.

selves and other such persons as may be
associated with them, incorporated un¬
der the name and style of die Gurland-

2nd. The term for wliicli petitioners

3rd. The capital stock of the corpor¬
ation is to bg $3600,00 divided into

Thepetition of W. P. King, J. II. Sligh,
J. A. McOay, J, G. Y. Vandiver, G. \V.
Broom. G. L. King, D.G. Crenshew and
W T. Soseby shows the following fuct,
to-wit;
1st. They desire to have themselves
ana such other persons us may be asso-
ciatedjwith them, incorporated under
t lie name and style of "The lted Hill
Ginning and Milling Company.”
2nd. That the object of said incorpor¬
ation is the building, equipping, main¬
taining and operating a cotton gin, grist
mill and cotton seed oil mill for gain
to the stock holders.
3rd, That the principal place of busi¬
ness of said corporation shall be at the
present site of the company’s gin near
Red Hill P. 0. in satd state and county,
and t he capital stock of said corporation
shall be six thousand dollars to be is¬
sued in shares of the denomination of
ten dollars each, which amount has
already been subscribed, and ten per
cent of said capital stock having been
already paid in, they ask the privilege
of increasing said capital stock, if de¬
sired, to ten thousand dollars.
4th. That the stock of corporation
shall be transferred only on the books
of Jfhe corporation either in person or
by power of attorney, and no stock hold¬
er shall transfer his or her stock, if lie
or she is iuilebted to said corporation as
principal, security or otherwise, until
such indebtedness is paid off and dis¬
charged, and for all such indebtedness,
the corporation shall have a first lien
upon the stock of such stockholder.
5th. That the capital and sur¬
plus of said corporation shall be liable
for the depts of same, and eacli stock¬
holder in said corporation shall be in¬
dividually liable for debts of the same,
to the amount of iiis or her unpaid sub¬
scription to the capital stock of said
corporation at any time held by them
respectively, pro-rata, amt one not for
another.
6th. That the officers of said corpora¬
tion shall be a president, secretary
and treasurer, and board of directors to
be composed of six of the stockholders
all of said officers to be composed of
stockholders and elected annually by
the stockholders of said corporation.
The officers for the year 1900 and until
an annual election shall be held by the
stockholders for the purpose of electing
officers, shall be AV. 1*. King Pres, and
J. H. Sligli Secry. and Treas. nnd board
of directors composed of tHe follwing
stockholders; J. A. McOay, J. G. Vandi¬
ver, G. AV. Broom, G. L. King, 1). L.

officers shall hold their office until the
annual election, if the time and place
of meeting for said election, eacli and
every stockholder shall have written no¬
tice. All the business of said corpora¬
tion shall be transacted by anil with the
consent and approval of said board of
directors.
7th. To this end petitioners de¬
sign the power to purchase hold
and convey both m law and equi¬
ty any estate or interest therein in
any kind of property, either real,
personal or mixed, to sue and be
sued, to plead and be impleaded to

lations for the government of the
