The poor boycott is dead and bu¬

and Moses Cheek are attending a

Church at Mulberry, iu Jackson

The Constitution now admits that
it meant nothing in reality by the
boycott. That does uot fix the case,
lor it would have been all the same
if' it had meant it.
The Congressional race in the 8th
district is becoming a very complica¬
ted one. It is generally now con¬
ceded that neither Colley, Lawson,
cor Olive will be the man.
The IJ. & D. railway Co. now has
in course of erection a large new

anything significant in its name

Lavonia is to have a new brick
school building. Over $1200 was
subscribed by the citizens of that
town in less than half a day. This

Lavonia’s people are, and larger

If young ladies would spend more
time practicing with India clubs,
dumbbells, etc., instead of sitting
on a piano stool two aud three hours
a day, there would not be so many
sickly wives; so say all sensible
people, and evidently two young
ladies are or the same opinion, as
they had Indian clubs thrown across
their shoulders one day last week and
not a few looked at them with ad¬
miring eyes and wished they might
join in the exercise.—Petaluma (Cal.)

A very wise police judge in St.
Louis, ruled that poker playing with
chips was gambling, on the ground
that chips were money, and fined a
poker player CUO. The gambler
then handed in ten dollars’ worth of
poker chips as payment of the fine,
on the ground that the justice had
declared them to be money. On
reviewing the case, the learned justice
reversed his decision aud remitted
the tine, very properly deciding that
what was not money by fiat or dec

The cotton exchange has sighted
our cotton crop at 7,141,516 bales
They had their hind sights raised last
year to something like that, and they
tell short of neaily two million bales.
It’s curious how these fellows miss
it so far. One reason, we reckon,
is because the farmer reports
future crop in the spring, while
credit is on a boom. We put this
year’s crop at 5 00U.80b'|—that Iiall
bale will be made on our crop, if
don't rain and hail boll worms a foot
deep. Prospects ate good now ; had
no rain in six weeks, clear as

Then be went to tbe buicht-r's and

the can is opened, the action of acid

and the danger ol poison is avoided.
This acetate will not foini while the

the construction of a railroad through
