There are G2 democrats in the

They will try to “fuse” with the

That Pension Flank.
The partisan press seems to think
that the People’s party in Georgia
nil! go to peieeson the pension plank
adopted by the People’s party at St.
Louis, but they are counting the
chickens too soon. If tho govern-
mont issued a depreciated currency,
paid it to th< soldiers who risked
t heir livM tO MV* the L’uion, it com-
mined a willful swindle and should
be compelled to make restitution.
For a government to coin or issue
one kind of money that is not equal
in value to any other kind issued by
tbe same power, shows a deliberate
intent to deceive and defraud.
There ought, and we believe there
will be, a great reformation in tbe
pension department of the govern¬
rnent. It is undergoing a careful
investigation by a committe cT who
we hope vv ill right some of the - Tongs
perpetrated there
Reformation cannot come hv con-
,i mji ng to swindle the soldier who is
„. orthy of a pension , or by failing to
restore to him that, of which he has
been robbed. Tax the incomes of
the gold-bugs who have robbed him.
Cut 0 ff t p e UUWO rthy. Turn tbe
pascals out. Give to hone t men
their rights, and then no patriotic
man will object. There seems to be
^u army of dt -CTten making appli-
catiiin for pardo. s and pensions.
Pc:hips the same old parties who
swindled those who fought, will pen¬
sion those who fled.
We do not think the People's par-
ty will split on the pension plank,
The Blue and the Grey are fighting
together now, and we don’t think
either ore will try to deeiove or de-
fraud the other.

trump the bankers, but Avarice was
quick to desern and ordered a coti-
veution of the bankers which met at
the national eapitol three days after
the passage of the legal tender bill.
r This convention succeeded in giving
what is known as the exception
clause, allowing the. greenbacks t o
be good for the payment of all dues
except duties on imports and interest
on bonds which must be paid in
gold.
The reader must remember when
the war cloud spread over the coun¬
try all the gold and silver disappear-
t 1 from circulation and was locked
up in the vaults of the banks, and if
the greenbacks bad never had the
exception clause, the bankers would
have been at their wits end, but this
give them an opportunity, when
the imports or mterst on bonds had
to be paid, gold was demanded, and
the banks only let it out giving $100
in gold for $285 in greenbacks.
