Mr. Editor of the Enterprise. Car-

1 see in the Tribune, in giving
the memorials of Col. Dortch
(diseased) that some body has made
a bad mistake in one item, that he
Dortch was the framer or in other
words wrote out and framed the act
that give the good people of old

to vote whiskey and its hellish traffic
out of the good old county of Frank¬

the case for 1 represented that coun¬
ty in 1882 and-83 when the act was
passed, and Col. Dortch never said a
word to me, nor me to him in regard
to the prohibition act, as for Col.
Dortch himself and his family and
me and my family were always the
best of friends and are yet. I know
I dul not do agreat deal for my con¬
stituency' but what I did do I am
intitled to and 1 am the man that
framed the prohibition aet for Frank¬
lin county that give the people the
legal right to vote whiskey out of
the county, saw the memorial in the
Tribune and I thought it was doing
me an unjustic and I want to set my¬
self right on the matter before the
people of old Franklin, my old na¬
tive county.

Rev. T. (5. Underwood gave us sv

favor of the People’s party along

When the Democrats knew that
we had no speaker present, they in¬

The Atlanta Herald can take a

job more interesting in the shape of

While the Ladies of Carnesville

Sunday' was an ideal May' day,

If you want to change (he minds
of the farmers of Franklin county,
you must produce unsmistakable
facts, and not party praise party
promises or missrepresentation.
Judge Lawson missrepr csented
the St. Louis address and platform,
and we give his mtellegence credit,
for knowing that he did it.
We commend Judge Lawson’s good
judgement in not introducing the
so-called pension plank. There are
some democratic speakers, who yet
try to gull the people with that old
stale chestnut.
The falsehood and missrepresen-

newspapers will damn that party so¬

name will he a by-word of derison
