The Recent Georgia Election.
IiOturiiH from the recent State elec-
tioti in Georgia disclose a most dam-
mug feature. Previous to election
U 1 fear advanced through , the ,,
was
p,,^ of the State that a light vote
would lie east, but the result appears
to he direetly the reverse. While
the entire vote in tho State in 1888
was only 140,0110, the returns from
, the recent election will show a vote
( ,f *284,000, an increase of more than
^ 100 per cent. Does any fair-miudod
believe such an increase
honest.? No indeed; it is proof pom-
i tive of dishonesty and fraud, and
that, too, of the most flagrant kind.
There is another phrase of these re-
turns that is also interesting, as the
vote of the People's party will amount
to fully 7"),000, which gives it the
position of being the white man’s
party in Georgia. As m Alabama
and Arkansas, so in Georgia the ne¬
gro voters are made to give Denio-
eratic majorities. The question
might he asked how long can a par-
tv last that will resort to such moth-
yds? The answer is, no longer tliun
the peoj le can be made acquainted
with the facts. If the hopes and fut-
nre of Democracy are built upon tins
foundation of fraud and force, its
days are already numbered, and it
will soon go down m blank infamy.
Let every honest voter remember
that on the basis of the election of
1888, and also in accordance with
Democratic prophecy as regards the
vote before election, the
party carried the recent elections by
a small majority. That fraudulent re-
turns alone gave Democracy its al-
leged victory.—National Watchman,
——7—- . -—----
The Georgia Democrats, mlim-
nous to Macon, are to have a new
i uniform and accoutrement made for
them, to be worn on state occasions
The uniform will consist of a suit of
clothes made from old almanac leaves
of the vintage of loll), surmounted
with by a stuffed skin of a no tailed
rooster, to be worn as a commanding
view head piece. Under the left
arm the Democrat, when marching
m procession or attending a political
meeting, will carry a well fertilized
pullet, and when any speaker says
anything the uniform Democrat of
that locality does not understand, or
j anything that might possibly remove
a layer or two of ignorance, if suff-
to strike in, lie will squeeze an
0U f 0 f j] 1P pullet, blox^on it once
j or t w ', ce to make it suddenly and
completely rotten, and then advance
h w ith his right hand against the
