A Ride Through Greene County.
Mounting our«steed on , last 0 nturday, , .
.
we took our w ay towards the White
Plains, in Greene county. The season
being the dead of winter and the foliage
all dead, there was little to interest the
traveler in the way of sceuery ; along
the road we noticed that the farmers
had planted a considerable area in wheat
and other small grain and we are of the
opinion that the grain crop will show up
well at next harvest time. Arriving at
Judge IV. W. Moore’s, near tiio Plains,
about dinner time, we found ourself
pressed to stop and take dinner. Of
course, we uccepted the invitation to
dine and after enjoying the hospitalities
of Judge Moore, we again mounted our
sable steed and took our way to the
Plains, where we soon found our good
friend, Dr. I. D. Moore, who at once
captured us, ancl we were billed to stay
wiMl him during the night We must
confess that we were surprised at the

There are two line churches here one

other to the Baptist denomination ; both
are n »cely furnished, and are a credit to
the town. Prof, llowell holds doinin

was in a flourishing condition. There
is not a liquor shop in the town, or a
place where it can be had, and taken all
together, we think The Plains one of
the pleasantest towns in the State.
After a ramble over the village, and
a look at the points of interest, we ac¬
companied Dr. Moore to liis pleasant
home, and met there an old Georgia
welcome from his wife and daughters.
Supper over, we retired to the parlor in
