-Last Saturday afternoon, Bragg
Peek and Joe Henderson, both colored,
eiigaffed in an altercation in up-stairs

suited in the latter’s receiving a severe
stab in the breast. The wound seemed
at first dangerous and even deadly, but
wetearnihat under the treatmen 1 of
Dr. .L W. Rhoues, lie has greatly im
proved and is now likely to recover.
Bragg, soon after striking the blow,
fled, but was hotly pursued, soon ov*r
taken, and lodged in jail. The affair
created a great deal of excitement

lic church. The large number of buggies
and carriages passing to and from t'u: de¬
pot told something very unusual in our lit¬
tle village. By nine o'clock the crowd had
begun to gather about the gate of the
church yard to learn what was to be done.
Bv ten o’clock the crowd from all parts of
the country had assembled around the
yard to gain admission. About this time
the following priests and bishops passed
around on the out side of the church
