The majority of the farmers in
this section have about completed
their harvesting and are realizing
a better result from their year’s
toil than they anticipated some
months ago, and are greeting tbe
increase in the price of cotton
with glad hearts.
Although we hear of much sick
ness in other sections of the coun
there are very few cases in our
community.
The fall term of school opened
at this place on Monday of this
week uuder the auspices of Prof.
C. M. Hall, and bids fair to be one
among the most successful of any
taught heretofore. Although the
people of Pinia and surrounding
countiy felt the loss of their form
er teacher, they did not give up
and allow their interest in the
school to die, but went to work
with renewed vigor and energy,
and feel that they are fully repaid
for their efforts in the selection of
teacher. Although Prof. Hall is
young and inexperienced, he has
already given evidence of some day
becoming a power in the educa

In accordance with the arrange

Showmen, the only big circus that
will visit this section of the state
this season is tbe Great Wallace
Shows, which will lie in Cordele
Saturday, October 28th.
Referring to this show the Daily
Telegram, of Ashland. Pa, says:
“The best circus that ever visited
Ashland. That was the general
verdict of the people who attended
the Wallace show yesterday after
noon and evening, and it was an
opinion that was deserved. Many
of the principal features were en
tirely new, and the trapese work,
and the performance of the Nelson
family, and scores of other high
class people were first-class in
every particular. The hippo
drome and racing evauts were close
and exciting, and were watched
with breathless interest, and some
of the finishes brought the
audience cheering to their feet.
