Pinehurst News.
All off to Macon fair. Large
crowds have gone on every train
from here, Monday several were
disappointed -tickets gave out. The
railroad authority should supply our
station at such times as this with a
barrel full of tickets.
Wc are having sickness yet, Mrs,
S. D. Thompson is improving. Mr.
W. L. Williams’ baby girl was taken
very ill Monday. Mr. W. O. San
ders has a sick baby, but is better
today.
Cotton is coming in with a rush.
The farmers say that there will be
more than was expected .
We were somewhat surprised at
the appearance of a particular pair
that landed Wednesday from the
“Shoofly,” north bound. It was
Mr. Billy Whitfield, from Uateville,
and a Primative Baptist, Bro. Hall.
We learn that they are in route to
our neighbors, Mr. II. D. Wood. The
pair immediately left in a buggy ob
tained from the stables of W. P.
Speight. We learn that Miss Doro
YVood will hereafter be Mrs. Whit
field. The loss to this community
and to her father will doubtless be
great, field but we congratulate he has Mr. Whit
upon the success made
in selecting such a companion. Miss
Dora has many friends who will miss
her very much. Mr. Wood, her fath
er, is also a widower, and as the say
ing goes, “one good deal deserves
another,” so Mr. Wood will doubt
less be “in for the war.” So here
goes to family and to Mr. Whitfield,
may success crown your efforts all
through life, and to Mrs. Whitfield,
may your new life be strewn with
pleasures and may sorrows never
come, ami to the father, Mr. Wood,
cheer up! “every cloud has a silver
lining.”
Love is the fountain of life and bliss,
Love is the valley of joyfulness ;
A garden of roses,
Where rapture reposes—
A temple of light,
All heavenly bright ;
O, virtuous love is the souls delight.
