displaying a portion of their show,
in parade, through the principal
streets, gave two magnificent per
formances, (afternoon and night)
to very large audiences Horses,
animals and pharaphanalia were
fine and everything was up to

Mis. Austin Williams visited Cor

Mrs. J. 8 Ross returned home

Prof. J. E. Powell, of Forsyth,
our old beloved teacher spent a few
days here with friends.
Mrs. Hatcher has vacated the
Waller house and moved into Mrs.
Williams.
We understand that Mr. Austin
Williams and wife will soon leave
for Florida, where they will make
their future home. We are sorry
to loose them, but wish them much
success in their new home.

Representative Harvard.
By a vote of 89 to 28 the house
on Tuesday passed the bill of Mr.

no person owing more than one

ty be allowed to draw a pension.
It is estimated that this bill will
save $800,000 a year.

Mr. Green Spears Killed.
M. Guilford Gunter, who lives
about four miles from Vienna,
shot and killed Mr. Green Spears
last Wednesday morning about
8 or 9 o’clock.
The particulars are meager but
it was learned that a dispute
over some seed cane which finally
resulted in Mr, Gunter’s

The Walter L. Main all New
Big Fashion Plate Railroad shows
which is due in the city on Friday
Nov. 15tb exhibited at Washing
ton, D. C. Oct. 7th. and 8th. when
the Evening Star of Oct. 8th. of
that city said: “The large au
dience that greeted the Walter L.
Main new fashion plate show yes
terday afternoon and evening went
away throughly satisfied that they
had not been deceived in the ad
vertisements of the management
and that there had been an ade
quate return for the price of ad
mission. The management has en
deavored througout to give a per
formance both novel and pleasing,
and is to be congratulated in de
parting from many of the old
stereotyped features of the ordi
nary circus. The
races are alwavs an
feature of a circus, and Mr. Main
has not neglected this in the least.
The Roman races were particularly
spirited and interesting. The show
all the way through is clean and
up to date. There are none of the

Mr. Roberts Bought Mr.
Tracy’s Farm.
Mr. S. T. Roberts, of Senoia,
brother to Dr. H. B. Roberts, of
Cordele, lias purchased the 260
acre farm of Mr. J. C. Tracy east
of Cordele and as soon as possible
will move his family to Cordele,
which will probably be not earlier
than January next as he has a
good deal of business to wind up
before moving. Mr. Mark Carden
accompanied him and is on the .
lookout for a farm. Mr. Roberts
says there are fifty others he knows
who want to buy land in Dooly.
