II AMI LTON, GEORGIA,
December o 1885
LOCAL AND PERSONAL.
Col. J. M. Mobley left this morn¬
ing for Brunswick, where he goes as
a delegate from the Columbus district
to the" South Georgia Conference.
The other delegates are Col. W. H.
Ellison, A. M. Brannon and John P.
Leonard. Conference convenes to¬
morrow, and we will soon be relieved
of all anxiety as to who will be our
pastor for the next year.
Rev. H. L. Embry, of the North
Georgia Conference, preached a most
excellent sermon at the Methodist
church here Sun lay morning. His
sermon made quite a favorable im¬
pression on aU who heard him and
the Ypson circuit is regarded services as for¬
tunate in securing the for
another year of such an able young
divine. He is the nephew of Mrs. J.
Lovelace, was her guest while in
town.
Last night the dwelling of Mr. M.
B. Kimbrough, on his farm near
town, was burned. He and his son,
Henry, were the only occupants.
The fire had made such progress
when they were awakened, that they
had only time to save themselves.
The house was a two storied frame
building, that cost upwards of $1,000
new. We were unable to learn
whether there was any insurance on
the building or not. A policy on it
expired v week or ten days since and
the money for a renewal has been
sent, but whether it reached the des¬
tination before the fire has not been
ascertained. The fire was probably
of incendiary origin.
