Pont Office Removal.
The post office is again to be mov¬
ed from its present comfoi table quar¬
ters in Murphey’s building to Wolf
son’s old stand on the corner adjoin¬
ing the warehouse of Hudson & John¬

found at his post distributing the mail

Pledge Take Notice.
We would respectfully call the at¬
tention of the city authorities to the
lighting of the stieet Ump in front of
especially the Methodist church there is on service dark nights, |
when at the
church. It has been neglected of
late and church goers find it unpleas¬
ant sometimes stumbling in and out
of the church.
Missionary Meeting.
* The Woman’s Missionary Society
of the Baptist church met Wednes
day evening to reorganize. The at
tendance was small owing to the fact
that the meeting was not generally
known and another has been appoint¬
ed for next Thursday evening. All
the old members and any who may
be interested in this Christian work
are respectfully requested to be pres¬

The Antique Party.
The “antique party” at the hotel
on Thursday evening of last week
was one of the most brilliant social
Z
ed with spectators to witness the rep
resentation of the youth and beauty
of fifty years ago in the persons
of the beaux and belles of
the present day. The costumes in
most instances were faithfully copied
from old time fashion plates, and the
quaint styles worked an almost com¬
plete transformation in our girls. The
gentlemen attired in half military
dress suits, or full evening dress suits
of long ago fully preserved their iden¬
tity, but the girls with the * entirely
difletent hair arrangement and funny
he » d dress of our grandmothers were
almost completely transformed, and
looked comical in the extreme. About
twenty couples were in costume and
as each made their appearance at the
front entrance they were greeted with
shouts of laughter by the crowd as¬
sembled in the hall. The evening
was spent in playing old fashioned
games, participated in only by those
in costume. The gay party seemed
to abandon themselves, without ex¬
ception, to the enjoyment of the hour,
and the spectators desired no better
amusement than to be permitted to
look on and join in the shouts of
laughter that constantly echoed
through the house. The manners,
and dress of our forefathers
were fairly presented, and we venture
to assert that our city has not had a
“tor* enjoyable party in t. e last de
cade.
