Tribute to the Memory of Jesse Grant.
About io o’clock on the night of
the 5th inst., Jesse closed his eyes on
this beautiful world, to open them,
we trust, in the brighter world above.
His life was brief. He was not quite
fifteen years of age. But Jesse had
always been a good boy, gentle with
his companions, affectionate with his
brothers and sisters kind and obedi¬
ent to his parents; indeed, every act
of his seemed to spring from a true
nobility of soul, and the most exalted
principles. He tried to do right, be¬
cause it was right. He had been in
feeble health for some time, but
was as patient as a lamb all the while.
Heart dropsy stopped short the pul¬
sations of his noble heart. Like an
opening bud, he has been removed
from among the flowers of eaith, and
transplanted, we hope, by the river
of life, to bloom forever in the gar¬
den of Eden, where love shines bright¬
er than dewdrops on angel’s pinions.
Resolutions adopted by the Beth¬
lehem Sunday School:
Whereas, Our Heavenly Father,
who is too wise to err, but doeth all
things well, has in his providence
seen fit to take from our Sunday
school, one of its most amiable schol¬
ars, Jesse Grant; be it therefore re¬
solved
1 st, That, while we deeply deplore
our loss, we humbly bow in submis¬
sion to the will of Him, who “never
willingly afflicts the children of men.”
2nd, That we tehder out* deepest
sympathies to those who feel the
bereavement the most keenly, his
heart-broken father and mother,
brothers and sisters.
3rd, That a copy of these resolu¬
tions be sent to the stricken family,
and also to the Hamilton Journal
with a request to publish them.
