MIDLAND & (IULF E. R. Wednesday, July 4 , 1888 WHERE TO CO HOW S AMUSE YOURSELF WHEN YOU REACH COLUMBUS: 1. See Annual Parade Columbus Semi-Paid Fire Department—most showy ever known here. 2. Visit the Exposition Grounds, onfy 300 yards from the G» M. & G. Depot. Cars will be run to the Grounds. Base Ball Park is in this enclosure. 3. Take Dummy Cars at G. M. & G. Depot and go up 7th Street to Front thence *up Broad to 13th Street, thence up 4th Avenue to 15th Street, to Prospect Park, Cemetery, and on through Linnwood and Wynnton, and thence back to the city, making a ride of three miles on a Dummy Line, something a great many people have never seen. The Dummy Line passes in 200 feet of the river front, where large Steamboats are cally riding the placid waters of the Chattahoochee, listen to the song of the sable which beats Gilmore’s Band for music. It also passes in ten feet of the Columbus and Navigation Company’s Compress. 4. Take Street Cars and go up to Rose Hill, passing through the business portion the city and within a few feet of the large Tower whose bell tolls the hours by electricity. 5. Visit the largest Cotton Factories in the South, also Ice Factories, Cotton presses, Foundry Works; see the Electric Light System, Electric Fire Alarm System, other modern improvements too numerous to mention.
