When Prof. Hayes, went up the steps
of the college Monday morning, he found
the doors locked and the pupils gone.
They had taken advantage of “All Fool’s
Day,” to have a picnic and had run off to
Kj h boro to d the day ^ in the woods,
He bought some confections and followed
them. There were over fifty in the crowd
and none were provided with dinner, but
the kind teache.- was equal to the emer

anl1 lhree g rown chickens, eleven pounds
of bacon and a peck of meal furnished a
feast that the hungry crowd devoured
with more relish than ever experienced by
the millionaire when partaking of the
daintie- of Ins luxurious table. A tough

a relish that would ha»e done 'credit to
the finished savage of the Plains. The

There is a romantic twist in the nuptial
knot. I)r. Stovall is well known in Atlan¬
ta, where he has been living an honored
respected physician for more than twenty
years. He has grown old in his profes¬
sion as well as life, something like seven*
five years having gone over his head.
His marriage was a surprise to ids
freinds. The bride is a young lady well
known in Atlanta and many years his
junior. She is a niece ot the doctor’s for¬
mer wife, who has been dead thirty years.
The present Mrs. Stovall was a baby at
that time. The ceremony was witnessed by
a few intimate friends and relatives only,
and after it the bridal party were driven
to the doctor’s home on Chapel street
Dr. Stovall was averse to anything like
a public wedding, and it was not until yes.
terday that his friends had an opportunity
to congratulate him
He declined, however to consent to the
publication of his wedding, and when ask¬
ed about it said :
‘•You can’t get any information from
me” ‘-Your bride’s maiden name
was—?” “I’ll ask her when I go homo. ’’
And the <1 cter walked away.
