There ought not to be a bale ofnothernor western hay sold in Georgia, and would not be if proper attention was paid to forage crops. Sorghum is a valuable crop both for syrup and as stock feed, es pecially the latter. All stock is fond of it, and it is so easily made. It is an excellent tonic and has good fat tening properties. Let me urge my brother farmers to plant sorghum. It ma y be planted any time up to July, but April is the best. time. Trv ’ it and you will be benefited. Rats are a great pest. Most barns are infested with them. An easy way to destroy rats fill is to put a wash-pot in your barn, about two thirds with water, spread cotton seed lightly over the water, and throw on top a few ground peas, place aboard h<> the rats can get to the top of the wash-pot; the rats will go in and be drowned, A lady farmer near by has killed 170 rats in this way.
