urdav and Sunday At the confer
ence on Saturday it was decided to
add the first Sunday to the legu'.ar
church services, after two months
hence, when the new pastor, Rev
Lr B The^new me new pLtlr'form pastor formally all v^'ar ac
•
cepted the call of the church and
after his graduation at Mercer in
June he expects to make Hamilton
M. w
On Saturday the pastor read the
9 lb chapter of Ezek and took for
a text Ezuk. 9; 4 ‘ And the Lord
said in to him, go through the
midst of the city, through the midst
of Jerusalam, and set a mark upon
the foreheads of the men that Righ
and that cry for all the abominations
that he done in the midst thereof”.
This mark was put upon the fore¬
heads of those who were anxious
about the welfare of others. We
may not have a visible mark of
distinction, but our countenances
will show it we are anxious about
the welfare and the salvation of our
fellow man.
On Sunday morning a part of the
8th chapter of Romans was read
and Rom. 8: 17 was taken for a
text “and if children, then heirs:
heirs of God, and joint heirs with
Christ”.
Some of you may have seen a
model home. You may be the
owner of such a home. In that
housc’all are kind, considerate and
respectful each to the other. In
that house there is comfort, there is
joy, there is happiness.
From out the window of that
home you ci anccd to look one day.
You sawr a little waif shivering in
the cold, with garments tattered and
torn, with disheveled hair and with
bare feet You opened your hearts
and opened the doors of your home
and took in this houseless and
homeless waif. Yon adopted it as
your own child, and granted to ii
all the pviva'.iges of youv home and
made it an equal heir with your
children. Notwithstanding al' these
! riviligcs granted, it could never l>e
your own child. It was only an
assumed kinship.
But our adoption to u heavenly
inheritance is something more than
this eaithlv adoption.
There may be church members
who have all the rights and privi
liges of the church and yet are not
the children of God, But if you
are a dhild of God, you are a joint
heir with his own Son, Jesus L'hrist
You are adopted by a God who
knows all tilings— who is all pow¬
erful, who is full of compassion and
full of l»ve. He will be a true fa
ther to you and Christ will ho your
elder brother, and the II dy Spirit
will be your Comforter.
Wh»t is this inhciitancc? It will
he a place of complete satisfaction,
a place of rest, place free from c are,
toil and anxiety, a place free from
strife and bitterness. We sha 1
strike hands with those we have
known and loved here. We shall
never weep or sorrow there.
We know not where heaven will
be. It n.ay be on one of ‘.he plan¬
ets; it may be the cemer of the
Solar system. But wherever it shall
be, God our father and Chiist our
elder brother and the Holy Spirit
and our loved ones will be there.
Some of you may not be there.
How overwhelmingly sad the
thought. You may be shut out
forever from the joys of the blest.
I invite you to accept the invita¬
tion of the gospel and give your
heart to Christ before it may he
everlastingly too late.
Delightful Moon-light
Bide.
On Isst Monday night shortly
after the moon began to cast her
silvery beams over our quiet and
peaceful little city, Mr. Fred MiHer
had a spanking team hitched to his
new picnic wagon and went over
our village and gathered up twenty
boys and girls and treated them to
a drive that will be long and pleas¬
antly remembered by them.
The drive was in honor of Misses
