It was our pleasure to . meet Col. Bob Berner, of Forsyth, who was in Roberta last week. For¬ syth has a right to feel proud of the possession of this gifted and brilliant young Georgia lawyer. Mr. Editor :— We have had some gloomy weather for the past ten days of which has retarded the progress of work to a great extent. From the signs of the times, we are go¬ ing to have a very late spring, al tliouge the farmers have been ex erting their best efforts to get in an early crop. Corn planting will begin about the fifteenth which will be ear¬ ly enough, owing to past indica¬ tions of the weather. Supreme court will convene in a few days, the farmers will work with a hur ly burly to get through planting corn in order that they may at¬ tend court. A few nights ago a supposed tramp went prowling around ],the residence of Mr. Sam Wilson, in the early part of the night and tried to break in his stove room. Unfortunately for him he was driven away before lie could ac¬ complish his designs. Log rolling has got to be a per¬ petual thing among the people. Messrs Joe, Wes and Zack Lewis, and Tom Gorden have displayed as much of this work since Christ¬ mas as any body. They have all cleared up about thirty acres of land apiece and hat it ready for the plough. Aside from this, Mr. Bill Wlutmgton has made a good showing in the new ground. Also Mr, Edgar Jordan is clearing up a large tract ol land of his mill plantation. In addition to mi? he has had two log rollings, one of which your humble scrife was a partaker. Some of the Roberta bovs were in attendence. Big John showed his eoperositv of man¬ hood all day long. Mr. Wiley Jordan braced himselt against Fool Killer and tried to show the boys where Moses was when the light went out. but lie did not succeed in his anticipation. F. K. AV.irrior News.
