Echoes of the siNQiNQ
Editor Correspondent :
We were not able to get to the
Singing but are sufficiently
otic and con-iderate to rejoice at
its success.
Thru the medium of your paper
we were informed of a portion of
the progrMn which, it would seem
was calculated to interest aiulen-
tertnin everyone, whether ieela-
rian or non-sectarian, old or
young and' that, we believe, should
be the dominating feature of all
such gatherings and, were it in
„ rtir . e1 ’" e ^ 0,1 Id so have it
j, * at «‘cieatures of environment
ail( icinain such until sound logic
asserts itself which period is verv
late in life with mnnv and never
with the residue. Now, we would
not have’you to infer that t hi.
inconsiderate course is always an
out croppi g of an indomitable
will, but that the iwfluehcfeuf ear
ly affiliation^ and instructions i^
so very strong that it is almod
impossible to bieak the fetters
thus wrought and fastened. The
earliest impressions are the lust¬
ing ones. 8o then for an idea to
gain th3 ascendancy it should be
imparted to the youth- of the land.
Therefore liberal ideas, not. selfish
ones, should be instilled in the
minds of the young, which is as
the filling Of barrels with various
substances which as they escape
thru the bung will lend nourish
meiit to many needy things where¬
as the selfish «nes only nourish
one thing at onre. The filling of
these barrels' ti continue the fig¬
ure, causes then! to expand—the
emptying llo\v not exceeding that
of toe supply-Hintil decay l
most powerful. Then oblivion
begins to settle about the vessel
but not so with ik contents They
have continued tt tl >w adminis-
tering here, cheering there, and
pointing out yonder, thus uniting
mankind into a fioser compact
bordering cm to lhit dreamed of,
but not yet realiwd, “Brother¬
hood of man” in ite true sense.
To revert again tr your Singing
we must say that tie spirit man¬
ifested is to becomnended. Some
sing for their own Ipnefit; other
for llie benefit of tin listener. So
then when a commingling takes
l>'»co there can but tie harmony
und good will scatteM around,
