Crawford Is Special!!!
The Special Olympics is
a global movement of peo
ple creating a new world of
inclusion and community,
where every single
person is accepted
and welcomed re
gardless of ability
or disability. Chil
dren who have in
tellectual disabili

of Special Olym
pics. the Special
Olympics would
not be possible
if not for volun
teers who believe
that sports have
the power to cre
ate unity and joy
in society. Along
with those volun
teers are coaches
who work one-on-one with
the student athletes and are
role models and character
builders.
We are proud to announce,
that Crawford County Middle
School will host the school
system’s first Special Olym

be a day of fun and games
and good competition for our
students with disabilities-
more specifically those with
cognitive, intellectual, and
developmental disorders.
This event will be held on
Saturday, March 9, 2013 at
11:00 a.m. at the CCMS Ath
letic Complex- to include the
gymnasium and the track and
field area.
The ’’Crawford Is Special”
Olympics event was the idea
of Mr. Carlteze Saffold, who
coaches year-round and is
also the altematve instructor
at CCMS.
’’Though the middle school
is the host school, this is a
collaborative ef
fort! As educa
tors (Coaches,
teachers, and
administra
tors) we must
realize, it’s
all about the
kids! Our stu
dents with dis
abilities are
important to
us and I want
to make this a
wonderful day
of inclusion
and excitement
for them,” Mr.
Saffold stated.
”We strongly
encourage the community to
contribute, attend, and sup
port in any way possible.”
