Georgia Farm Bureau and Georgia Agribusiness
Council Disappointed with EPA
Monday, June 8th, the
Environmental Protection
Agency issued a response to
the recent 9th Circuit Court
of Appeals’ decision to set
aside three Dicamba regis
trations.
While Georgia Farm Bu
reau and the Georgia Agri
business Council appreciate
the EPA’s efforts to provide
clarity to farmers and ag
retailers after the gross
overreach, we are frustrated
that the agency did not allow
a more expanded use of
existing stocks.
“It is another frustrating
development for our mem
bers at this late stage in the
planting and growing season
for cotton and soybean
producers,” Georgia Farm
Bureau President Gerald
Long said. “By foregoing the
expanded use of existing
stocks more hardships have
been placed on Georgia pro
ducers,” Long said.
Will Bentley, President of
the Georgia Agribusiness
Council said, “We appreciate
the effort by the EPA to pro
vide guidance in a difficult
situation, however, we feel
the agency did not go far
enough to follow their long
standing protocol that would
allow the remaining stocks
of Dicamba held by our
ag retailers to be sold and
applied in a critical time for
farmers.” “Our organizations
believe that this announce
ment does not fully address
the confusion that exists and
in fact, we think this con
tinues to cloud the issue,”
Bentley said.
Both Georgia Farm Bureau
and the Georgia Agribusi
ness Council were stunned
with last week’s decision
from the 9th Circuit. The
two organizations advocate
for Georgia farmers and
agribusinesses and have
said the court’s conclusion
removes an invaluable tool
and resource at a time when
growers cannot afford an
other setback.

PC Sheriff not just sheriff, but wrangler
mm
mm
All in a days work. Sheriff Terry Deese handles more than just being sheriff. He goes above
and beyond his duty and title and we may add “wrangler” to his resume. He said this is the
longest rat snake for this year.
Letter to the Editor
Dear Editor:
After studying all the possibilities of
hold the Robert Sapp Baseball Camp
this summer, I have concluded that it
would be best to cancel the camps for
2020 unless things change drastically
and even then, camps would be later in
the summer. Some of the location where
we offer the camps have cancelled all ac
tivities at the parks, and other still have
not made a decision. Our state has also
set 32 mandatory rules for day camps
which would be hard to follow our
baseball camps. There is just too much
that is unknown, and we take pride (for
39 years) in running an organized camp
led by adult high school coaches with the
campers improving their baseball skills
in a safe environment.
This is a disappointing decision for me
and our staff and many of our campers
(we have quite a few already registered),
but if you will save the 2020 Camp
Brochure we sent you earlier, all of the
information except dates will be the
same for the 2021 camps (15 year olds
can come next summer)! We are just
postponing the camps until next June
2021. We, of course, will refund those
that have previously registered via Pay
Pal and check this week.
There is an old basevall adage that we
use at our camps, “You win a few, you
lose a few, and a few get rained out.”
This year we have to add one more to
this adage. You what it is. (You noticed I
did not mention the name of our oppo
nent.)
Have a good summer and unless you
hear from me, we got beat by #19 this
summer, but I’m going to send you “19”
ways to improve your baseball skills this
summer in your house or backyard as a
bonus package.
