Since the adjournment of the last
General Assembly, the office of Major
General of the 4th Division of the
Militia of Georgia, has become vacant
by the death of Gen. Heard of Elbert
—that of Brigadier General in the 2d
Brigade of the 2d Division of the Mi
litia of Georgia, by the appointment,
of Gen, Abercrombie of Hancock, as
Principal Keeper of the Penitentiary,
and his consequent removal from the
Brigade—that of Brigadier General
in the 2d Brigade of the 4th Division
by the resignation of Gen. F. Beall of
Franklin—that of Brigadier General
of the Ist Brigade of the 4th Division,
by the resignation of G*n. J. V. Har
ris—and that of Brigadier Genef*al of
the Ist Brigade of the 9th Division, by

Mr. Ector presented the petitions of
the citizens of Pike, Fayette, McrrK
wether and Coweta counties, praying
the formation of anew county, which
was read and ordered to lie on the j
table.
The Senate took up the bill in com
mittee of the whole, to extend the
time for fortunate drawers in the Land
Lotteries of 1818, 1819 and 1821, to
take out their grants in their own
names after the time therein specified
—Mr Branham in the chair—the
President resumed the chair, and Mr.
Branham reported the bill with an
amendment by way of substitute. The
Senate took up and agreed to the re
port; the hill was read the third time,
and the caprion being amended, it
passed under the title ot a hill to ex
tend the time for fortunate drawers in
tire Land Lotteries of 1818,1819 and
11821, to take out their grants for lands
thus drawn, and after the time therein
specified, to vest the same in the state.
Mr. Branham from the committee
appointed, reported a bill providing
for r* convention to revise and amend
the constitution of this State, which
was read the first time.
