THURSDAY, DEC. 22, 1898.
Quite a number of the New York
and Massachusetts volunteers, who
are stationed at Americas, were
town this week on furlough and hav
ing a good time.
By the recent actions of the peo
ple of (jordele it seems they are de
tennined to wipe out A. I 1 . Aism if
they have to do it by ignoring pri
maries.
General Wilson seems to have
made the speech of the occasion
Macon Monday, IJe said:
nation is too great and powerful
have any neighbors on this
and the American llag should
from one end of it to the other.
The Telfair Yeoman lias been sold
to A I, Ilyals, editor of the Telfair
Enterprise, and henceforth but one
paper will be published in McRae,
viz. The Telfair Enterprise. The
Enterprise is a very enterprising pa
per, and has a very enterprising edi
tor and proprietor.
The Hank of I'nadilla has put the
farmers of that section oil notice
that it is not necessary for them to
plant cotton in order to borrow
money, and advises that cotton be
made a surplus crop entirely, This
is an example worthy to imitate and
will result in great relief to all
classes.
■vr—
There is no North and South now.
We are all one people. When the
time lias come for the graves ol the
Confederate soldiers are to be deco
rate! i along with those of the Union
side it is time to say ours is a great
country find that we are proud of the
American (lag. Great is America.
.Great is McKinley.
Discovered by a Woman.
Another great discovery lias been
made, and that too, by a lady in
this country. ‘ Disease fastened its
clutches upon her and for sry<-n
years she withstood its severest fesl s,
but her vital organs were undermined
and dea th seemed iinyfy^iTt. For
1 v, and could not sleep. She final
ly discovered a way to recovery, by
purchasing of us a bottle oi Dr.
King’s New Discovery for consump
tion, and was so -much relieved on
taking first dose, that she slept all
liighl; and with two bottles, has been
absolutely cured. Her name is Mrs.
Luther Lutz. Thus writes TV. C
Haimrlck & Co. of Shelby N. C.

Wilcox County’s Court
House Still Can Be
Found at the Same
Old Stand.’
The Court house bill failed to
*»
come up before the last session of
the legislature It was made a
special order more than once, but
was stricken from the calendar every
time, and finally tabled to be taken
, up at the next session, possibly.
The Court, house removal
coutroled tlie bill but would not
it come to a vole. Tim Ciiao.Mci.K
will not undeiluke to explain wnv,
but notice is hereby given that all
who have business in Wilcox
for the next twelve months (at least)
may couie to Abbeville to look
it and their business will receive
kindest and I test attention, and
will be kindly received and cared
while here. The light is over for
while, now let us all make friends,
blot out the past and go to work to
redeem ourselves and old Wilcox.
'I’u k CuuoNier.K will not ynter
further into the discussion of
election nor any other faction till
the election itself comes up, but will
devote its time to the upbuilding of
Abbeville and Wilcox county .
Large delegations from both Ab
beville and Rochelle were in atten
dance, regularly, during the session
of the legislatme, each presenting to
that honorable body the question as
they honestly saw and fell it, and
the question has thoroughly gone
before that body and will there rest
till its next session, lion. R V
Jiowen lias made a good and faithful
representative, li e w as id wavs
found in liis seat and doing what lie
thought was for the best interests of
the grand old state of Georgia.
As above stated, the light is ever,
for a while at least, so let us raise
’the llag of truce, stack arms and
once more be one people working for
the upbuilding of the country and
for our own individual good. We
hereby extend the hand of friendship
in behalf of the people of Abbeville
to that portion of the county who
viewed this .question from a different
standpoint to us. and ask that you
shake. In doing this neither may
compromise bis belief or position us
to this question.
Many of tiie Court house removal
advocates have, in the past, been
our closest and warmest ^Jjiends.
We appreciate that friendship and
the memories it brings to us. and
now while no question actually con
fronts Us, that could’^operate true
and genuine friendship, let us bid
adieu to strife ajid derision and enjoy
the sweet communion of Tricnd with
friend for a season.
