WINTRY WEATHER.
Four Inches of Beautiful Snow
Make a Novel Scene Here.
Abbeville and all this county and
•ection was visited by a snow storm
last Friday night and Saturday
morning winch would have been con
sidered quite a respectable effort, for
the latitude of Atlanta and even
higher up. "
The stars were shining when the
people retired Friday night, and the
four of five inches of snow that cov
ered the earth like a blanket when
they arose on Saturday morn pig and
the blizzard that blew pretty well all
day was quite a surprise as well as a
a novelty.
The irrepressible boys -and girls—
very quickly overcame their aston
ishment, however, and went in to
have all the fun possible out of the
occasion. Snow balling was a pop
ular game all day Saturday, and it
even lasted up.to Tuesday, when the
last of the snow had disappeared.
It was fun for the young people
who, in addition to snow ball games
went rabbit hunting, and tried all
other cold weather amusements they
could think of, but it was death on
the poor half-fed cattle that drew up
in fence corners and in any place
that would shelter them from tile
blizzard and suffered in silence from
the bitter cold which their improvi
dent masters had failed to provide
aga^st.
It is probable that the fruit crop
has been saved the cold snap.
The recant -v sunshiny weather
came near bringing out the buds and
blosso ms on th e fruit tree s, but it is
likely that they have now received a
sufficient set-back to last them until
the danger from late frosts shall
have passed.
Yesterday was a comparatively
pleasant day, but the reports from
the weather bureau indicate that the
weather will be unsettled for some
time.

Danger of Colds and La-Grippe.
The greatest, danger from colds
and la-grippe is their resulting in
pneumonia. If reasonable care is
used however, and Chamberlain's
Cough Remedy taken, all danger will
be avoided. Among the tens ol
thousands who have used this rem
edy for these diseases we have yet to
learn of a single ease having resulted
in pneumonia, which shows conoln
s j ve jy it is a certain preventive
0 f that dangerous malady. It will
cure a cold or an attack of lagrippe
m less time than any other treatment,
tl is pleasant and safe to take. For

Bridge Needed.
Every traveler—and there are
many—who passes Folsom creek, <•
pecially in winter, oil the Vienna
road wonders why a bridge has never
been built there. The law requires
every dangerous place to lie made
safe by bridges, crossings, etc., and
this being a public thoroughfare, not
only across this county but to other
counties, entitles it to a good bridge.
Doubtless it is not a question vif
money, for there is money in ttm
treasury; nor one of necessity, for
travelers going either way o’ften have
to swim. Our commissioners ate
I up-to-date men and doubtless will
have it done soon.
