Tried to Pass an Ordinance Pro
hibiting the Sale of Ice and Cold
Drinks on Sunday.
At a meeting of the City Council
last Monday night an effort was
made to pass an ordinance prohibi
ting the sale of tea on Sunday also
to prohibit the drug stores from
serving soda water and cold drinks
and to force t&e livery stables to be
closed and to let out teams 011 the
Sabbath. Tb° nb<v--'
introduced by councilman Oliver and
supported by eouncilmen Carswell.
Ford and Oliver. We suppose the
soda water and livery business could
be gotlon along without but prohibi
ting the sale of ice would work quite
a hardship on the people who have
no ice boxes and who are not able
to get enough 011 Saturday to last
’till Monday.
