It is a siriet rale of business that

JAKE SHEPPARD RUNS ThE
LEADING CROCERY STORE
You have something yet to learn of
the progressive, enterprising spirit
that can be manifested in a busiitess
in Cordele if you are not acguainted
with the grocery store and stock of
Jake Sheppard. This is one of the
live places, where stock is alway:
trech and where the proprietor is keep
} ing at work. There are no cob webs
an! dusiy shelves about this grocery
- store.
Tlis store was cstabliched eight “¢i
vears ago by John and Jake Sheppard
an:d is by no means a new cnterprico.
It ‘s now the bhusiness of Jake Shen
pard alone, the change having becn
made a ycar ago.
A fresh stock of grocerics, fruits.

taken in extending and enlarging the
asefulness of the clectric light and
power plant. Wherever it has been
sossible to extend the service, this
ilas been done quickly and for the pur
pose of enlarging the volume of busi
ness. Bvery scction of the city has
its electric light seivice splendidly
arranged and the customer has bheen
able to get what he wanted with the
shortest delay. Whatever it has been
possible to do in the way of asist
ing the growth and development of
the community, this corporalion has
always had an official here who went
cheerfully ahead with his shoulder to
the wheel, and in this manner the lo
cal lighting company has been a fac
tor in the growth of the industrial in
terests of Cordele.
With the motto: “Do it electrically,”
written all over their every act, the
employees of the Cordele Elceric
& Power Company never fail to find
a way to make the fullest use of the
goods their plant has to offer. If it
can be done electrically, they have a
way of doing it to the highest degree
of perfection. Their labors alwavs
count in the matter of securing the
largest usefulness for the electrin
lighting system.
It is a well known fact that while
many of the lager corporations are
many times inclined to ignore their
responsibilities in a community, the
Cordele Electric Light and Power
Company has on the contrary always
realized to the fullest extent that it
is a part of the local community” and
must, even like individual members of
the community, operate and fulfill its
mission in the best manner possible
with a full and fair knowledge of the
common interest which exist. Those
who operate this plant try to remem
ber that ihe best interests of this com
pany are always the best of the com
munity, and that the best interests of
the community are the best interests
of the company.
